I don't believe it makes you an alcoholic to drink alone. I've done it before and I've only done it once, I don't need alcohol to survive and whenever I see a beer or something I don't crave one.
Impaired does not mean you have lost control, You can still think. It also depends on the amount of alchol you consume. I have been drunk and asked to drive somewhere, And I said no because im drunk! Its still a poor excuse. Everyone should be accountable for their own actions regardless of anything
I don't think drinking alone makes you an alcoholic, some people prefer their own company and having a glass of wine or a beer on an evening to relax is fine. It is when it is excessive makes it worrying! It is also worrying when people drink early on in the day!
Impaired: 1. functioning poorly or inadequately: Consumption of alcohol results in an impaired driver.
i never said it did not impair your driving, Yes if you are drunk your driving is going to not be good. I'm only saying that you still can think while you are drunk, you can't just say. OOh I was drunk therefor I didnt even know what I was doing. People who make the decision while drunk to get in a car and drive and then wound of kill someone should be punished to the full extent of the law. They can not just say that they did not know what they were doing.
I've drank 10+ beers a few times infront of the computer, but then again that wouldn't exactly be alone, coz i usually end up on msn or some webcam chat.. But yes it is perfectly acceptable.
That's everything but the truth. First of all, there are several states of being drunk. Also, drinking is not a depressant, not as long as you have control over how much drink. The Swedish Alcohol committee has made the best little information film about this called 'The Party Method'. It explains pretty much everything and also gives tips on how to calculate how much you can drink depending on your body weight. Anywho, if a person don't have control when he or she is drunk, how do you explain that people find their way home if they don't have control? And hangovers sucks. :x
I don't think drinking alone makes you drink more or less. You can drink the same regardless of company in my opinion. Sure, with more people you have more varieties which could in turn make the blood-alcohol level just a tad stronger but that'd be it. (Unless you're one of those easily influenced humans in this world that loves to impress people so you drink more and more to reach that goal)
yes but people who drive drunk and kill someone are punished alot less than someone who murderes someone. They put DUI people into AA and programs and such. Treat them less harsh. I don't think they should be
Wow, that's a weird point of view. So you think a person who made a bad call and didn't intend to hurt anyone but was just stupid enough to get into the car and accidently killed someone should get the same punishment as someone who intends to kill a person and does so? I mean, seriously, some of those who drive drunk don't even realize that they had a few beers too much. How do you draw the line there?
It's their decision to drink, its their decision whether under the influence or not to get in the car, its their decision not to designate a driver before they start drinking or making prior arrangments. Call me boring, but before I know im getting drunk I know where im staying who im going home with, who im going to be with and everything. Its the same crime. A life was lost, A life who's family will never see them again because someone made a bad choice. Someone who was innocent and never deserved it or saw it coming. Not all murderers go out with the intent to kill either. Same crime, same treatment... My opinion *shrugs*
You should know that people tend to overstimate their abilities when they've had a few beers. Don't misunderstand me, I would never even dream of drinking and driving. And it is incredibly stupid and unforgiveable to do so. But it's still an accident. For me, the intention is very important. Oh well, we're getting those steering wheel alcohol lock in all the newly built cars from 2010 or something, hopefully that will take care of things =) Besides, I think our countries have very different statistics over drunk driving, it's a pretty uncommon here in Sweden fortunately =)
HAha There is a story in the news about an Alchoholic who had one of those breathalizers in his car. He went to the bar and left his car running. Because obviously when he came out he wouldnt be able to start it. Well he drank for an hour or 2 and when he came back out someone had STOLEN his car!! LOL HHAHAHA that's what the jerk gets. Some people never learn I suppose things are different there then here in the US. It is very common here, sadly
Did you guys hear of that perso who ate his underwear to beat the breathaliser test? That amuses me. It worked aswell.
i think that u should be able to drink alone so long as u kno ur limits and dont become dependent on it...my mum and dad drink almost every night but only about 2/3 glasses of wine...does that make them alkies...i dont think so
I havent a clue, but later he sold his story to the press and the police arrested him! You might find something on it if you google it.
