Why would anyone do such a thing :( It's so terrible, they had their whole life ahead of them and were only trying to get an education.

Yes and that link says it's almost 8 years to the day of that other bad school shooting :? Do they know yet who it was?

Yes they know who it was, the man idther killed himself or was shot by a police officer. It pisses me off that the people didn't know, the shooting was split up; the guy shot up a Co-Ed dorm and then two hours later he went and shot up the classroom. Why didn't the college go into lock down if there was a shooting two hours earliers?

It never ceases to amaze me how incredibly deranged some people are. I mean this guy had to have invested a lot of time and effort into planning this, and then to actually carry it out... it's just beyond my level of comprehension. Anytime a tragedy like this occurs, it's a sad day. It makes you wonder what's next. The insane thing is, the shooter probably got exactly what he wanted... to go down in history as the guy responsible for the worst shooting spree in the US thus far. What a warped individual he must have been.

The police are to blame, in my opinion, for the deaths of the other 30 students. They were killed after the original 2 people were shot and yet the police did not lock down the school because they 'thought the gunman had left'. Pffft.

It seems like whenever something major like this happens, the police and the people responsible for the school's security are never adequately prepared. It makes me wonder what their training consists of, if not to be prepared for the worst. I know that they are only human, but how many times does something like this have to happen before they do something to minimize this from happening? I'm sure the way security is handled at this particular school will change, but that's after 32 or so people have lost their lives. Too little, too late.

News is showing now in australia theirs 33 dead.

Maybe the united states really needs to reconsider their gun laws now? This way when the average joe has a brain snap he cant just go to his room grab his semi automatic machine gun and blow his family too peices.

    Confirmed: 32 actual Students dead
Shooter: 1 (Commits suicide), so I guess 33 altogether.

And the officers on duty have very much to blame for what occurred. When the first 2 victims were shot, they sent EMAILS out two hours later reporting what happened. They didn't close down the school (Which would be the wisest) as a few days ago there were bomb threats made against the school.

Sometimes it makes you wonder, what are they being trained for if not the worst possible scenarios?

Not necessarily students just people. There were some faculty shot at too.

The school did go into lock down but the police thought that the 2 people killed was just an isolated event. So after 2 hours of nothing else, they went out of lock down.

the thing I don't understand is... if you have a
problem with a teacher or student, just knock
em out! you don't walk through a school an shoot
random an innocent people for your own problems..
an the dummy who did it took the cowards way
out an shot himself... what a retard... he shoulda
thought about what he was doing before hand...

I was shocked when I heard about this. What is our world coming to? Honestly, one man goes in and kills a bunch of kids who are trying to further their education, while this coward shoots himself in the head? It's absolutely disgusting. It's people like these that deserve to be put onto their own little island where they can sit and rot for all myself and the rest of the population cares.

I am sickened by this event, and as a student I see that this is going to happen more and more in the near future.

Take into consideration not everyone can rationalize like normal people do. Some people are very demented in the head and will take the worst case scenario and turn it into real-life (That being the incident in which occurred today).

    He knew:

    A) He wouldn't walk away from the situation alive
    B) Possible life in prison

He had nothing to lose/gain by committing suicide.

You're right, tragedies like this are completely insane and it really makes you wonder about the degeneration of the human race. Then again, this world has always had it's share of evil occupants. Things like this have been happening since the beginning of time. I guess now the evil has evolved, and since we have greater means of communicating, we're more aware of what's going on than ever before.
