I finally managed to get one at one of the worst stores in town, a Kmart. Try thinking of places people don't normally go to for game systems and call them. I'm not sure what they have in Canada, or I'd give suggestions.

I live in Edmonton Alberta and usually the Best Buy stores get 10-15 in every Tuesday and Friday. I might get one, we'll see if I see anything else that I want.

That's probably because very recently Wii sales have surpassed even those of the Xbox 360, let alone the PS3. The console was revolutionary, and it was a big success. I'd imagine new shipments are coming in periodically, it'sjust a matter of beating other people to the punch.

My friend who works at Toys R Us told me they keep getting new ones every week, and they sell out within hours.

Yeah, they are still very hard to come by, even after 5 months :S Heard Nintendo is thinking about stepping up the production though.
