Sadly, I don't think so. Most of these sick people are in it for themselves, they want exposure, and they don't care about the money. I will say a prayer for this little girl tonight, and I hope that whatever sick, cruel person abducted her will find it in their awfull soul to return her home.

    :(

What is going on with the world ?!?!

It's so sad, I only hope wherever she is, she's still safe and unharmed! And hopefully will be returned to her family.

In some underdeveloped parts of the world there are still criminal groups that kidnap little kids and sell them to buyers, who take the kids and make them work labor or prostitute, or even worse, deform the child (I've heard of stories where they actually cut of the child's leg!!!) and make them beg on the streets for money using the childs deformed figure to get people to give money!! It's so terrible!!

I used to live 10km away of the town where she disappeared, like an year ago.
It was such a peaceful place, in fact, Algarve was but there have been a lot of drug and prostitution there lately.
And now that girl disappears... I wonder how the person who made the crime had courage to do it =/
And yea, she's probably already in the prostitution business by now... I just hope the portuguese inspectors do something.
Yesterday on the news they said that a man knew a girl similar to her, and the authorities started investigating that.
Today, they say that it's not Madeleine, that girl is called Sofia.
It'll be pretty hard to get results if people give false warnings :/

I don't think it is the money they are after, the police believe she has been watched and taken by a pedoephile ring. It is so disgusting anyone would take a little girl and subject her to that. I hope they find her soon and she is unharmed. Her parents are on the news every day begging for her to be returned, they look absolutely distraught.

When things like this happen it makes you think what a terrible place the world can be. I am getting married soon and will want to start a family but when things like this happen it makes you think what sort of world are children being bought into!

Yes, but it's much more of a tragedy when it's a little girl whose parents quite obviously have a lot of money, isn't it? The sickest part is that only the rich can get this type of media coverage for whatever misfortune happens to befall them.

Besides, the parents are just as much to blame as anyone. Who in their right mind goes out and leaves a 4-year-old girl alone in a foreign country?

I think it is sad that she is missing...

but i wonder why they are making such a big deal

little kids go missing ALL the time... and you dont hear about most of it...

Are her parents rich or famous?

I only wonder because I think it is very wrong that there should be double standards for this kind of thing...

If a poor girl goes missing in the ghetto...

they should post it everywhere too and offer a reward and spend so much time fore EACH kid that is lost.

I've got updates on this, just saw them on the news.
Police suspects that a red Ford van in a neighbourhood of Lisbon with a false license plate transports Madeleine.
Our authorities are all investigating about this atm and are trying to track the van.

I agree with punkeydew. It is terrible that this has happened to this little girl, but it happens ALL the time. Many times we don't even hear about it. I am glad that they are putting forth such great effort to find her, I only wish we could do this for ALL missing children, regardless of their family's financial status. Only in a perfect world I suppose.

This reminds me of the Natalee Holloway case. They acted as if she was the only young girl from the US that ever went missing in a foreign place.
