amen to that, he's my all-time favorite author; i absolutely love the ender series. eric nylund is a close second (he wrote 3 of the 4 halo books). and, of course, stephen king. very imaginative, very descriptive guy.

My favorite book was likely to be "the Bourne Identity". DO NOT confuse it with the movie though. the plots were VASTLY diferent. Much better. More twists than even i saw coming.

J.K. Rowling and Dan Brown I think.

    Those 2 are great writers.

I have to agree with both of those, the Ender series is really good and very interesting but they also sort of have a deeper meaning to them too. And the halo books just rocked, Ghosts of Onyx is one of the best books ever. I also like Dan Browns books and of course Harry Potter

I love the Harry Potter books. I'm so glad I know what happened in the end, but I'm kinda sad that there will never be a new one.

I think my favourite author is Stephen King... so voted for horror-fantasy.
I don't like to say this... 'cause I like a lot of other more realistic and 'deep' authors like Hermann Hesse... but dunno why, Stephen King can capture me more than all the others.
I like very much also Patrick McGrath, his "Spider" and "Asylum" are awesome and so sad...
Another writer I love is the Spanish Paulo Coelho, dunno if in the US he is known like in Europe °-°

First off I everyone should know I wasn't the best reader growing up, and to be honest a complete bore. Though in college I started reading Harry Potter and as many other people enthralled by it and had to keep reading. Now I see reading fun and enjoyable as long as its a book that keeps me wanting more.

i'm gonna have to add a book/author to my list it's Barbara kingsolver with the poisonwood bible, even tho it's just a family describing africa each of the characters has a distinct personality and she using amazing descriptions, sometimes when i'm reading it i can hear the animals and see the jungle and i just feel like i actually am there... until my bro shows up and tells me its dinner time XD the only problem is i have to read it for english and i only have like 4 more weeks to read like 500 more pages so i'm kinda rushed and i can't enjoy it as much, but i'd love to read it later on like my senior year when i'm not rushed and actually enjoy, and anyone who hasn't read it whether you like fantasy or fiction or nonfiction, sorry horror people, i would put this book on the very top of your to read list.

    LOTR books are the best!!!!
They are so much better than the movie.
Be patient to read past the first few chapters and it would be really really nice.!!!!
