so yeah im getting a new laptop soon with really good specs, so i was wondering if there were any non-horror / sci fi FPS games that were good

i loved the graphics in half life 2, but its just too scary for me to finish. im looking for something that isnt too horror based or science fiction

    any ideas?

I'd say Manhunt. It's not really scary but it IS a little gory, but it might actually be banned, I'm not sure. It was pretty controversial cause basically the entire game is to go around killing people haha.

I don't think your a pansy. I tried playing Silent Hill once, got about 5 mins into the game and had to turn it off. Have never played it since, scared me silly. I also had Dino Crisis, but that scared me as well, cause I didn't know what was round the corner, and I played up to this one point where you go into a room and while exploring a huge t-rex comes crashing through the wall. Made me jump like six foot into the air. Didn't play that again either.

On topic: I usually only play turn-based RPGs, so I have no ideas what sort of pc games are around. I did play Planescape: Torment on the PC, that is kinda heavy on the talking side, but I really enjoyed it (haven't completed it yet, but will be doing so after I have sent off my last assignment).

What type of games do you prefer to play?

Fur fighters isn't really for pc I think but you change it to first person while shooting. Also, war games probably aren't scary but will probably be noisy.

Why don't you get like a delta force or counter strike type game and go online? I mean, I think both of those games have missions for one player but I only played them to take out my real life anger on people across the world by sniping them and having them be really mad that they only lived for less than 2 seconds because i keep shooting them dead. :)

i compete in several first person multiplayer shooters already, so i'm kind of set in that genre :)

i'm looking for something storyline based now, so i can just have fun and not worry about competition :)

Silent Hill scared the CRAP out of me the first time i tried to play it.

I don't think anyone's suggested the GTA games.. they're not scary at all and i found them a lot of fun.. so you could try them. Good storylines on the older ones too.

i would suggest getting the PC version of Halo.
it's not really a scarey game. but i'm not much for PC games; so i probably wouldn't be of too much help. o_o

i would suggest steering clear of any game that sounds like it might have something to do with ghosts and a tip while playing (if you dont already do this) would be to turn down the sound effects/music. often, it's the music that gets you because you just know something is coming up.
    -shudder-

    oh yeah.
and as far as games that scared the hell out of me...
silent hill did it, resident evil scared my mom
and this game called 'Fatal Frame'. o_o
scared the living sht right out of me.

I would suggest all of those EXCEPT Bioshock, if your scared of those games earlier believe me you wont handle Bioshock.

I've played and completed Bioshock two times
(once on medium and once on hard)
I didn't find it extremely scary. It was too cool to be scary.
