I have heard of the general story, as I believe it is based on a play of some sort. Who all thinks this one may be worth seeing, once it comes out? Looking for opinions, so post if you want.

It's based on the famous musical Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim (my MT hero) and it's such a good show. I don't know if it's going to be good because I have liked any of the movie musical that have been released recently (Rent, The Producers), but I still think it's worth seeing. Even if you're not into musical theatre, Johnny Depp is going to SING! I can't wait to see how he does.

Aw, you didn't like The Producers? I thought it was cute. Obviously not as good as the show, but still not bad.

I'm looking forward to ST, not so much to Johnny Depp singing.

Ooh, I didn't realize that it was going to be a musical version. I was interested in this anyway, but it will def be interesting to hear Johnny sing.

Does Tim Burton have anything to do with this film?

Nope, I actually wanted to leave during the movie. I don't think Depp's going to be very good, but we'll see. I'm really curious. And I'm super excited to see Helena Carter (aka Bellatrix Lestrange) as Mrs. Lovett.

    Tim Burton is the director.

Should have known that really. I kinda figured Tim Burton would have something to do with it as Johnny Depp and Helena Carter are both in it. Think I might even go and see this one at the cinema, if I have enough money at that point.

The style is very Tim Burton as well, I knew it the instant I saw the preview. Very Edward Scissorhands, I actually thought they were making a sequel at first :D Love that movie.

Oh wow. Tim Burton. I thought something about it's style seemed familiar. And yes. Edward Scissorhands was good. The Nightmare Before Christmas wasn't bad either. lol.

Sweeney Todd is an absolutely fabulous musical. It's likely my favorite play of all time - the songs are catchy as all get out, and the plot is absurdly morbid. I'm not a huge fan of either Tim Burton nor Johnny Depp (pirates should be drunken lunatics, not eyeliner-clad prancing supermodels) but I'll see this movie just for the sake of hearing the music again.
Sweeney, Sweeney Todd, the demon barber of Fleet Street. :D

I haven't seen it, but I heard he kills people with his razor, and his wife takes their bodies and make a meat pie out of them [...]

Well I haven't been on in awhile due to relaxing for what little now remains of my holiday (Goin back to good ol' university tomorrow) but I saw this with me dad awhile before new years'. I must say; you weren't kidding. The score is absolutely fantastic, and the plot is deliciously morbid. It should be noted for those who want to see it, but haven't, that it IS insanely bloody and R rated. So those with a weak stomach, not for you. :yup:

that was the first thing that popped into my head! It looked like Johnny Depp was revisiting his old role xD

Very Burton-esque and Johnny has a nice voice :)
