Yes, these are the same things I've heard about the argument (=
I prefer to think, if something has to happen, that it will consist in a new age for the humans... such a new way of thinking, a new status of consciousness, and not an apocalypse! (I'm too young! x3)
Something really big, as it was been with the born of Christ, 2000 (well, 2008) years ago.
Or more probably nothing =p But I'd like to see something new...

I believe the world is already at an end. Look what we've done. Global warming, hatred, war, suffering, all that. Our generation isnt doing ANYTHING to help it.

We're just slowly using up the last of what we have left until it's no more.

I believe the sun burning out is what the "apocolypse" is referring to. Think about it. Normal stars burn out all the time. Thats how we get shooting stars. Imagine the sun turning into a shooting star. If it doesn't cause a gigantic explosion when is bursts it will more than likely hit another planet and create billions of meteor/ites. But in 15 billion years we will have found a means of fast space travel and will be able to live in multiple solar systems

Nice theory but by how humans are now, we wont be around in a billion years, not to mention 15billion. Earth wont be lasting that long and even if we find somewhere else, we will basicly suck the life out of it. We are lucky nothing wont happen now!

I dont think the world will end in the yr 09 because..according to writings experts have accordingly said that a "War" will begin in the 2013....The Dead will Rise....Man Vs. Man Country vs. Country this will be the Real WW3 this will bring the so called "apocalypse" Citys Will Fall...and then the last known survivor(s) will start a new Civilization or When the Last one falls earth will never have thought to exist

You meant 5 billion years, not 15!
Anyway, I think there will be yet so many problems before then 5 billion years xP

I doubt it will end in 2009.
If people keep bombing and causing terror...yes, it will end soon. But if you think about it also, any minute to this day the world could perish from a star exploding, etc...so, it's really hard to predict :/ If humans destroy the world...well I have to predict that it will be from terrorists.

Probably not. Countless doomsday predictions have been made throughout the course of history and, fortunately, none have been true.

I can't be bothered to read the whole thread, but why would life all of a sudden end ? I don't believe in higher powers, and unless we get hit by a meteor, we shouldn't worry.

And even if a meteor was coming, I'm sure that if we get to hear it 1 year before it actually hits the earth we somehow blow it up or make it go another way.

According to the most comon theory it isn't a meteor that's going to kill us, it's a planet that's going to pass earth so close that it will totally mess up the weather, cause erathquakes etc.

That seems highly unlikely, and even IF it does happen, it definitely won't occur during our lifetime.

I agree, but that's what the whole 2012 theory is about.
