Here in Ohio they recently passed a smoking ban statewide. No smoking in public places or places of employment. I, being a smoker, am not particularly happy about this. I personally think that at least bars should be able to choose if they will have a smoking section or not. Restaurants, I could go either way. Bars will, I believe loose a lot of buisiness from this though(I know my local one will be losing mine) if you consider the fact that it's much cheaper to buy a six pack and turn on the radio. I know several other states are considering or have already put this into effect. What does everyone think of this? Also, I'd just like to say I understand why some people voted for this. There are those out there that are rude and don't care if they subject others to second hand smoke, but you have to realize there are plenty more that are more than willing to move away from people in order to prevent that.
I'm not a smoker, but I have seen the effects of smoking on many of my close family members. In particular, my very, very close grandmother has been suffering from lung cancer caused by smoking for 20+ years and is having a very difficult time dealing with it and the healing processes. I think the smoking bans happening around the country are a step towards many of our countries health issues. Smoking is a terrible habbit and smokers are being taken advantage of by cooperations that target underage children as consumers-to-be...
I'm for banning smoking. Most people should know the effects of smoking. Addiction milks you of your money. Second-hand smokers and deaths are rising as well. Places that have smoking banned will help these second-hand smokers.
I'm for that bans because they're a lot less strict than in singapore. my friend told me if you smoke in public period you get fined. And if you don't pay your fine you get caned. Also there's something about cigarette smoke that makes me vomit immediately. So if i was in a bar and someone lit a cigarette, it would not be pretty.
very good. this way people who don't want to be around smoke can avoid it and people who want to smoke have to do it privately
Smoking is extremely harmful, and it CAN kill people no matter what those useless companies say. They are just out to make money or rather steal money and life from people.
Smoking should definately be banned. I can't see why harmful drugs are banned when smoking can do worse and it's not banned :?
I'm not a smoker too but I just HATE the fact that restaurants spare a place for smokers, where usually are the best seats in the restaurant. If the person likes to smoke, please go to the streets or her house. I just can't stand it.
hmm...its unfair for non-smokers who have to breathe in smoke...government should build some places and name it smoking areas...there,smokers and smoke, and non-smokers just get out of the way, isnt it much better?
Smoking should definitely be illegal. Rat poison, stunts ur growth, chemicals that lower ur iq....its f*** horrible PLUS lung cancer. My dad's a smoker and it drives me CRAZY!!!!
I agree,I have a lot of smokers in my family, and I think they're just throwing their lifes away for some stupid cigarettes.
Friends, I live in Texas and out of all the people I regularly see about 60-70% smoke at least socially. I myself enjoy smoking the occassional cigar while playing poker with my friends and their brothers and dads every other week. I might drink A beer with my dinner if it calls for it too. I suppose the tobacco is not the healthiest thing I could be doing but I enjoy it. I've never been outside smoking and somebody asked me to put it out or even shot me a dirty look. My girlfriend doesn't like it when I smell like smoke so I don't do it often... yeah I'm whupped and in love so I do as I'm told.... I'm thinking about proposing but I want to wait until I finish college.
Well personally I feel that a smoking ban in public places would be benefit everyone, especially the non-smokers. It would be unfair to allow a non-smoker to receive second-hand smoke, whereas due to the smoker's own addiction, they should not have taken up smoking if they cannot even control themselves in public.
i live in sg and over here you'll get fined for smoking in forbidden areas like bus stops, food courts and stuff... im a smoker and i feel that it doesnt make a difference if we all think about it... i mean, if we smoke, we cant change the direction of where the wind is headed to and if its headed to people who dont smoke, theres nothing we can do about it.... and they fine us 200 for it...
I agree with the ban. Definitely Smoking can be a form of disparagement. I mean, if it wasn't contagious, then i'd be fine with it. But if the afterall effect resorts to second hand smoking, then NO!
i live in canada, and in the last year or so they passed a law which doesnt allow smokers to smoke inside, include bars and closed in smoking areas. i totally agree with this because if your in a bar and dont like the smoke u shouldnt have to leave it should be the idiot smoking has to leave.smoking is so stupid, its ur fault for starting so u should have to face the consiquences
