Stupid thread. Will just spiral into a religious debate most likely and stupid 1 liner comments by people trying to get their post count up. In my personal opinion though we are the rulers of our own life, we write our future. Not fate. Though there is actually evidence to support that time follows a predetermined path, and because of that things are already predetermined and thus we have no control over it. I can't be arsed to go digging up the analogy to support it, but the basic idea is that; As a 3rd dimension would appear impossible to understand by someone living in a 2 dimension universe, so too is it impossible for us to fathom the 4th dimension (time) and how its directly proportional to every day life.
Stupid thread? We never know my friend, the only way to find out is to try. (Ill buy you a Coke if it does crash and burn) Personally im fascinated by the variety of opinions of different people. Im a bhuddist, and to a degree our lives are dictated by the seeds we have sown in the past. Yet at the same time due to the conditions i was raised up in, i believe the only constant in this world is your determination. Determination to forge success with your own two hands. So I think life is a hybrid, you do everything you can and hope the dice rolls your way?
So what do you believe in then? Fairies? Gnomes? Little small men that pick your nose for you? Elaborate man. So your saying that you kinda think that there may be more to it than just our lone asses in this world but your not bothered or you dont have the mental capacity to think of it?
It is all an illusion for our mind... We are part of it... The vast system... The matrix has us... We Cannot Escape And thats my opinion.... *cough*NOT*cough* Like Smirnoff said it was just to get my post count up, and to make a joke. How sad. This is going to end up like Smirnoff said, so props to him for calling that one. And its not spam, this wasn't some one-liner so yea...
I believe in both. I believe that there is a predetermined path that our live is to take. I, however, think we have the ability to change some of the events.
Well, I've had (and still have) plenty of "psychic" moments throughout my life where I knew something was going to happen before it happened... I think most people have, even if they don't admit it or think anything of it. I think that it speaks more for predestination.... or maybe not that, but that it's all there in the timestream already and past, present, and future are just a matter of perspective.... looking into possible futures means there's already a future there to look into, right? I guess?
I`d say than i rule my own life i don`t belive so much in the fate i think more in the power of our desitions
Fate doesn't dictate any events except maybe very important ones. It's not fate when you're eating cereals with milk everyday. It's your own life-style. I practice parkour and basketball every time I get the chance. and sometimes I combine them (nearly lost my hand one time but I'll tell the story in another thread). Anyway, there are things we cannot control and we must be at least admit that.
This is a good queestion, i belive that some things are bound to happen, but not in a strict way, i feel that there are temptations everything that CAN or CANNOT change what has already been called as fate.
It is my personal opinion that the path of time and events is predetermined. Choice is merely an illusion. For example, you believe you have the choice to go either left or right. In reality, you "choose" which direction because of previous events and decisions. Thus it seems as if you have to power to go either one way or another, but in fact you are only going to go the way that was predetermined. The concept of WILL still exists. However, your WILL will follow the path that was laid out for it in the past.
Using previous events and decisions as a base for what choice you make is called having "common sense." If in the past I did something stupid and something bad happened, you can rest assured I won't do it again. Not because "fate" dictated it, but because I have the common sense not to do something that I KNOW will cause something bad to happen to me again. I mean, I really don't believe in fate. I don't know how to explain it exactly, but we do have the choice to make our own decisions. If I'm hungry, I DO have the choice of either an apple or an orange (if its in the refrigerator at least ). And if I'm feeling greedy, who's to stop me from getting both? Predetermined events to me is just a load of bull and I don't believe that ANYTHING is set in stone.
It is not just the reasoning behind your decisions that previous events and decisions represents. For example: the atoms that make up your body and such are there because of previous events occurring and previous decisions being made. Also, I made sure not to reference fate in my explanation because I don't believe in it. I agree that it may seem as if you have the choice to take either an apple or an orange, but the fact of the matter still remains that you will chose one based on previous events. And if you are feeling greedy and take both, then the reason you are feeling greedy is also based on previous events and was predetermined.
for me its 50/50 i let fate lead, when it comes to the unknown things, by mean 'new things' in my life
