i mean, just cuz they hear 'rumors' about a terror plot from al qaeda they have to go and announce it to the public so there will be a nationwide panic. what do you think?

If they told the public everything, there would be panic 24/7 since there is probably some threat on something by someone at least every day.

It is for the best of us all for them to keep it to themselves and deal with it.

Wow, lol. I think that's off or something eh..? I'm sure you know you can only earn 30 cash-a-day so your obviously extremely active, or glitched somehow hehe.

    On this topic:

Withholding information is simply put a lie. Depending on the circumstances, I believe this to be unanswerable without further investigation. Truely it depends on the nature of the plot itself. For example:

Al Qaeda threatens to attack an elementary school:

In this situation withholding information could mean the lives of several innocent children. Even if it creates a "true nationwide panic," it would be more than worth it to forewarn the parents of the children involved in any means necessary. In this scenario I would say they have no right to hide the information available to them, and localize it to protect those involved at a faster pace.

Al Qaeda threatens nationwide water supply:

In this situation, you are involving millions, and millions of individuals. The facts are unknown, and the water supply has yet to have been tampered with. The government warning the public at this point would lead to "extreme nationwide panic." The country's involved world riot over bottled water, loot, and injure several innocent people. In this scenerio I would say they have every right to withhold information as it's simply a "plot," and not yet a probable cause for mass panic.

All in all those are just my opinions. :p

I also believe that with so much war going on, people have grown somewhat deaf to the media. We rarely see it casted anymore and it's one of the most devastating issues in the world currently. So many lives are being lost, pointless or not is a topic I can't rationalize. It would take alot to create a nationwide panic in today's world, atleast more than it used to several years ago.

They shouldn't go everywhere telling everyone and causing mass panic. They should semi-secretly take care of it without causing any panic. If it comes down to having to release the info, then it is serious and the media couldn't play if up more than it already is.

Of course they should tell you.. That is the whole purpose of having a government! To do what WE want them to, this ain't a fascist state. They can't decide the will of the union by themselves..

I voted 'yes' also because that's what they always do. They never say the whole truth... luckly. We'd live in panic otherwise.
It reminds me of "The Dark Knight" movie... when all people begin to escape from Gotham after Joker sent his message to television <3 In a real world government wouldn't allow television to show a message like that!
