I was thinking about doing it on alcohol vs. marijuana, but since I have to do most of my research at school, the school blocks almost everything alcohol or weed related...

    So, any ideas?

You could try looking at some of our debates? Some of those have pretty good info in them.

Ooh, that's a really good idea

Presidential candidates? Persuade why one is better than the other? Or if you want to be more general, conservatism vs. liberalism.

I've done a couple persuasive essays on why metric system is better than imperial system. (1 in english and 1 in spanish :nope: )

It's pretty dry but it's not too hard to write about either.

I did a paper once on Gambling vs. Stock Market years ago.
My mom doesnt gamble, but is a day trader. When I asked why she didnt think stocks was gambling she said "Because I make educated decisions". So I based my paper around that statement.

I always did something silly that was a change from everyone's papers about politics & such. It has to get boring for the teacher to read that all day, so I would try to throw in a little flavor to help break up the monotony. Plus, it was always pretty easy to write. For example, "Why String Cheese is Superior to Sliced," or something equally ridiculous. Usually got me a good grade & a few laughs. Good luck!

Something about eating disorders? Why they are caused by the media (or not !)
Or maybe domestic violence - why people hit each their wifes (or husbands).

Maybe one on how "Cheerleading is(or isn't, depending on how you feel about it) a sport"

I know some people think it is, others don't.

Honestly it depends on what grade you are in. If you are in middle school or lower you can always take the lazy way out and be for or against smoking. Obviously go against smoking and voila, you have a billion reasons and an easy A. Woohoo.

Edit: Forlulz - That is awesome. You, sir, are hilarious. :p.

How about doing your paper on your opening sentences? Whether it is right or wrong for schools to block websites for educational purposes?
