Yeah i've heard of it. There are still alot of things in that freeware incomparable to photoshop.
Mine is pirated though. Shame on me :p

You can't really call it the "new" photoshop because people still don't choose Gimp over photshop by a long shot. It's just the fact that it doesn't cost 800 bucks to buy is the main / only selling point I suppose?

I've gotten used to it. In my words Photoshop is better but I'd rather have it forever rather than a month

Photoshop is superior to it. There is a reason Photoshop costs so much, albeit, too much.
The features in Photoshop are just IMO easier to use and more advanced :)

Gimp is definately getting better and better, and more advanced.

But as you've guys said it, there is a reason why Photoshop is so expensive. Because it is unbelievably advanced and I'm sure there are atleast 100 features on Photoshop that's NOT on gimp.

Photoshop is obviously better, but Gimp is free! (I use Gimp for that sole reason).

So Many things you can do with $800, rather than one program where you can have something similar for free.

Gimp is the source of all my headaches when I want to edit graphics at school. Photoshop is inherently superior.

Photoshop owns GIMP. I've had Photoshop for about 5 years and it's the best editor I've used.

Gimp is a solid program, but Photoshop will always be infinitely better. Gimp is just a lot easier to use though.

I've been thinking about downloading gimp. All I have right now is paint and ANYTHING is better than that. I just want something that has more than just the fill option...

You should think about downloading it. It's quite easy to just pick up and use.

GIMP is basically a "Photoshop" program created for Linux if I am not wrong. Between the two it would be obvious that the original one has more features, though for a freeware GIMP isn't half bad. There are ways to get the original one for free though.

I'm a graphic designer, and I use both.

If you are broke, and want to be legal, you can't go wrong with GIMP. It will do many industry standard things that you would want to do. It's not as user friendly, or easy as Photoshop, but the price is right.

GIMP will never achieve what photoshop is. It does not have the money, or large enough developer base. Photoshop has thousands of plugins, millions of brushes, and endless tutorials online.

If you can... Photoshop is worth it... In a pinch... Gimp will do.

I remember my friend telling me about this program... Anyway, I think that PS is superior and will always be superior. It's simply got more features and IMO a nicer interface. Sure its a RAM hog, but who's gonna multitask PSing... And it will always be 'Photoshopped' images, I can't imagine a day where we start saying 'Just Gimp the image.' :p just some random thoughts...

"The New Photoshop"..? Gimp has been out ages, numerous graphical artist (signature artists in the least) use Gimp. It is much more complex as you get further into it and Photoshop is really simple, from my standpoint, compared to Gimp. As well as that, Gimp can't produce the numerous effects that Photoshop can. D:
