I think it is okay to download a song or two every here and then, but if your whole album or whatever is all downloaded, I don't think that's right. What's so bad about paying a whole $15 for a new CD? It's not that much money, and you support your favorite artist. (Pirating music is also very important for the music world, because if everybody had to buy a CD, the artist would have much more money and might not need more, therefore they'd quit producing new songs as often; however, if they don't have an abundance of money, they might still work on songs and such...kind of like winning the lottery and quitting work.)
Do it. The pants command you. Nah, srsly, though. I pirate everything. Yeah, I'm an unsupportive jerk. But reasonably...I have about 7000 songs. I have about 5 full albums. Why would I want the music that I don't want to listen to? I have enough as it is. There are probably about 4000 artists from which I have three or less songs. That would be a buttload of music, and I don't want it. Now that you can buy songs individually and all that, I suppose that I could step up to the plate. But old dogs, new tricks and all that.
Lol I know what you mean. I doubt they'll be along much longer. I mean why carry around a big bulky CD player that only plays a dozen songs at a time when you can carry around a tiny MP3 player that can play tens of thousands of songs at a time?
no problem with it at all.. its nice to preview before you buy... that way ya not out hard earned money if ya dont like the cd =0)
Only time I buy CD's is if i really like the artist and want to support them. But usually I just go on web and listen to it like on youtube and stuff. I don't see a prob other then harming the income from the artist which technically is stealing money from their pocket.
I buy CDs from any unknown artist that I happen to like. I listen to a lot of foreign music, and the shipping costs are a B**** -_- But yeah, you gotta support the people who provide the music.
I don't really have an issue with it. I admit, I have done it in the past. If I like a band enough though, I will actually buy their cd, or their merch or go see one of their shows.
Sales of music albums typically come from fans of the singers themselves, and I think that such a process would include listening to their songs first-hand themselves. In other words, it could also be said that the "pirating of music" is helping sales too. Think about RadioHead for instance. Furthermore, it would be highly impossible to ban the pirating of music seeing that most of the ISP are unwillingly to restrict their users' usage of the internet due to privacy issues or business ettiquttes.
