Read about it here, seems pretty interesting to me. Nuclear fusion has obviously been a goal for a long time, if we get this then that's a huge leap forward for humans.

Nice article you found. I'm actually excited to see if we could pull it off. That'd sure solve the energy 'crisis'.

yeah but a power source that abundant would be very hard to contain.. just imagine all that energy. What if it explodes what damage would that do .... this article almost sounds like the plot of spiderman 2 with doctor octopus trying to create a sun lol..

The explosion would be on par with a anything else blowing up...it would actually be safer than a nuclear power plant since there is no radiation produced due to the lack of decaying isotopes.

Innovative technologies always bring us more power, and that's a great thing :)

while on the other side, we should be much more careful manipulating the growing power,
just in case it won't fight back and destroy us all [...]

I'm really interested in these kinds of technologies and I'm really anxious of the results

In theory it should also mean one could make gold by fusing the right atoms together :p

It could be great or of course it could lead to :

"It's the end of the Earth as we know it"

Playing with fire and other phrases spring to mind too :yup:

I wonder how safe it could be, anything goes wrong everyone on Earth would be affected. Honestly they should just do it on the Moon or some place else.

I am not a scientist, but my understanding (which is probably incorrect) is:
Stars explode and lead to black holes.
Black holes lead to parallel universes.
    Parallel universes lead to aliens.
Aliens lead to the earth being enslaved.

I hope that doesn't happen, but I'm 95% sure it will.

I'm getting bored with all of these scientific experiments they sound all grand and amazing and the media says we will either all explode or have flying cars and every time it's just disappointment =[

This would be amazing if it worked. It would probably go down as the greatest technological breakthrough of our time, and for good reason. Imagine running a country on several kg of hydrogen a year. Not only that, but as time progressed fusion powered engines would start to power all transportation, making the world that much cleaner. This would accelerate the advance of technology unbelievably.

Oh wow. Look how our technology has advanced. I think this is going to be a fail though, sounds too dangerous too. I wonder how big the star is going to be.
