Ok, so this may be a bit confusing but bear with me.

I think that the ABers do their "clicking" much too fast, so fast that they don't look human (please notice that I am not talking about how many hours in a row they can sit in a shop without stopping). I have seen logs that say things like "Item bought in .00234 seconds". What kind of person can click that fast?
All neopets has to do is go back into their logs and see that this person was moving exceptionally fast and either using an ABer or stopping time.

    Now to the proposal:
I suggest (crazy as this sounds) that someone come up with a slower ABer. And not only slower but more random. So instead of 'item bought in .00234 seconds' it would be more like 'item bought in 1.649 seconds'. And when I say more random I mean like times from a 1 second buy to a 3 second buy, and have the program randomly select an amount of time from that.

Yes I know that this would cut profits and lose many more items but I think that the freeze rate would be sooooo much lower on this particular idea.

    Comments and Questions are desired.

when i read the topic title, i was thinking to myself: "this better not be the same topic as the OTHER thread..." But it wasn't. I've read through your suggestion, and it's accually a pretty good idea :) but 3 seconds on a buy? that's a little slow.. Especial when you're about to buy a MP or somthing else unbuyable...

    nice idea tho :) +rep

i think a 1 sec is about the right speed if you were to make it look "human" i guess 0.7s is possible but its still pretty darn rapid

yeah perhaps if it was random between 0.5 and 1.5 it would be better for all shops bar magic (as it s full of abers)

Lol no wonder people get frozen. I made my brother make my ABer so it goes slower, buying the items usually in 3 seconds.. because thats what a human can do. He even made it so it takes a certain amount of time to click on the item, find the haggle box, and stuff like that. How fast does the one on the site run at?

that's impossible (unless it on different accounts at the same time) as you hae to wait 5 seconds in between buys

I haven't used an AB (I'm still researching), but I do think that sounds like a good idea.

I mean, have it randomized, and maybe even miss items so that it looks more real. And then the people that don't want to risk losing items can use other/regular AB - while people who are more cautious can use the slower one.

Well if there is a program that says the buy time is in .00234 seconds they must be processing the time it takes to read a string because honestly the best time anyone is going to get for a page request with the exception of t3+ line is .3 seconds and that is a flat out killer time. let alone the time it takes to process an image would be around .01 to .03 (Yes I know it can be done faster but most people here are using either the .net platform or vb6). So your true buy times that is from the time the aber matches an item to buy to the submission of buying the item would be closer to .4 to.6 seconds if not slower but I agree with the overall idea of putting a delay into the aber, my abers all use a smart function that changes from computer to computer and adjust to your current connections time so that the buy times are around 1 seconds to 1.7 seconds per buy.

    WOW

    Wow.
I dissappeared for a while cause my power's been out and I come back and my idea's still here :)

Anyways, Mystical I like your idea and .00234 was just a random number used as an example for how ridiculously fast the move though it wasn't a real figure.

I would love to see your abers on the site Mystical though I think someone should time themselves just buying some crappy item as fast as they HUMANLY can, so that way the random times in between (I think you said .7 to 1.7 secs) would be a little more real. If a human is refreshing, finding, recognizing, clicking, find the haggle box, typing, and then finding and clicking the image in .7 seconds they are moving inhumanly fast... Because you said that the page request alone would take .3 seconds at fastest, refresh 1 request, click item 2 requests, haggle 3 requests, buy 4 requests.

So that right there is 1.2 seconds....

I say everyone should go and buy some worthless items from the tiki tak shop and time themselves and come back here with their fastest and slowest times (throw out your REALLY slow times, act like your RS a morphing potion legit and not a sandal).

i have no prob with buying slow. my connection is 333kb and i have troublw buying MP's so i don't need this thing to slow my ab down. The best i can get when neopets isn't bogged down is like 1.2 secs Rest of the time its 1.7 secs or higher.

There allready is a way to slow them down. Just go to ctrl-alt-del, and go to processes. then find your ABer on the list. right click on it until you find "set prioritty" click on that. It should be set at normal. Set it however you like, but DON'T USE REALTIME!!! It will crash your computer when you close the window.

    just my 2 cents..

    Hmmm

The thing about that is then you have to put in that much more work, and if there is a possibility of crashing your computer, what's the point?

I think that someone should just adjust (or make) the timer to a more human time and then put it onto the site.

If the people with slow connections are already slow enough then they should use the fast ones, but someone like me with a t3 and a 5+year old newly premium accout, that doesn't want to have every account made from my computer banned because I used a super aber should use the slow one.

But first someone has to make one.

it won't be that hard as you could just edit a current one to have a 1.5 second (or whatever)wait before clicking the picture
