There are two stages: the password protect thingy and the invisible folder thingy! I'll just refer to them as Stage 1 and Stage 2.

Stage 1 : Password protecting a folder without any programs

    Step 1.

You right click on the folder and Send to : compressed (zipped folder)

    Step 2.

If it opens with Rar or Zip automatically then you have you change that. Right Click =>> Properties then Open with =>> Change : compressed (zipped) folders.

    Step 3.

Double Click Compressed folder and look in the upper corner of the window. File =>> Add password (don't forget it, write in down or whatever) and you're ready.

    Final Step

Delete the original folder! Don't forget to do that or else you did all steps above for nothing.

    Stage 2 : Making a folder invisible

    Step 1.

Right click where ever you want the invisible folder to be and select create a new folder.

    Step 2.

Rename the folder and delete it's name. If you hit enter, Windows will surely want to put a name. Now here's the great trick :

With the name field still active hold down ALT and press 0160 on the number pad (make sure Num Lock is on) then release ALT.

    Step 3.

Now right click on the nameless folder and select Properties then go to the Customize tab and press the Change Icon (it's lower). Scroll through the icons until you find one that has no image.

CLICK OK and you'll get your invisible folder. I put it on my desktop in a special place and always use it to stock my UBER mega secret files.

WAY TO FIND IT on the desktop in case you lost it:

Press F5 (it's refresh) and for a split second you'll be able to see it.

For a better blend, try making the folder invisible then password protect it.
Then if you want too, you can also make the compressed folder hidden (using Properties =>> Hidden option)

Mac users wanting to do similar tricks can use this program --> http://www.altomac.com/hide_folders/. It's freeware so no money is needed (yay!!) and has a very simple and easy to understand interface. :yup:

    Re: Folder of Secrets!

You mean the invisible folder? Alt+numbers should work on any com with a windows os. Make sure you are holding down ALT first and continue holding down as you type the 4 numbers.
