Well, this is by FAR my favorite anime of all time. But before I start telling you guys what it's about, I have to get one thing out of the way: It's a Mecha Anime. Now personally I HATE Mecha animes, I HATE gundamn and anything like it. But this specific one is pure AWESOME. So even if you don't like mecha animes, give this one a try! This is a basic summary of the plot: Gurren Lagann takes place in a fictional future in which human beings have been forced under Earth's surface and live in isolated subterranean civilizations. These "villages" have no contact with the surface world or other villages. Because frequent earthquakes damage infrastructure, the villages must constantly extend deeper into the earth — individuals relegated to this task are known as "diggers". Jeeha Village is the home of Simon, a fourteen-year-old digger who was orphaned when his parents were killed in an earthquake. Although Simon is respected by the village elders as the best of the diggers, he is ostracized by his peers. Simon discovers a special drill key deep in the ground and is soon recruited by an eccentric fellow orphan named Kamina into his group "Team Gurren". Kamina dreams of the surface world, which he once visited as a child, though he had to return home as he was too young to survive there. If it doesn't look like much, just try 1 or 2 episodes. I got hooked after the 3rd! Everyone who like this anime, consider it to be the best anime they've ever seen. This one actually made me cry like...5 times Drill On!
It's definitely one of the better ones I've seen. And it's shounen mecha, so it won't have a confusing ending about existentialism like evangelion. Highly entertaining, and worth watching. Check out the intro here It should give you some idea about what sort of anime it is. And the best thing is, no fillers! *cough*Naruto*cough*
Damn, nobody else has posted on the thread I have failed in spreading the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann joy. one thing that REALLY pisses me off though, is that gainax haven't released a subbed/DVD version of their TTGL MOVIE yet. I fucking can't wait to see the newly animated scenes, and the monologue/dialogue Nia has with Kamina's grave (Kamina xD). I'm not sure theyr'e ever gonna release a DVD of it though, and that means I'll never get to see it uploaded on the web :C
Don't need to spread it to me, I already know its great lol only seen 8 episodes or so but Ive been meaning to watch more.
i've seen the whole series and its totally great. i was able to get my hands on it and its def a keeper. i dont like mech anime but this and the first season of Zoids are at the top of the list
