You can find Dubloon Disaster here.

    INTRODUCTION
Dubloon Disaster is a relatively simple game in which the objective is to collect as many dubloons as possible, without falling prey to the mines.
Each time you collect a dubloon, a mine will appear, up to a maximum of nine mines. these mines will pursue you relentlessly, moving slowly when they are far away, and gathering speed when they are closer to you.
Don't worry about this, though! It can be used to your advantage, as I'll demonstrate in the "Techniques" section.

    GAMEPLAY INFO
The controls for Dubloon Disaster are very simple. Pressing "Up" on the arrow keys makes your ship move forward in the direction it is facing. It will gather speed as it moves, so be careful.
The "Left" and "Right" arrow keys rotate your ship in their respective directions. You can also use them to turn your ship while moving by using them in conjunction with the "Up" key.
The "Down" key will move your ship backwards.

Here is a list of the points you will score for collecting dubloons:

Lastly, you should be aware that sometimes, a large whirlpool will appear, dragging everything towards it. It will destroy the mines, and you, if you touch it. While this can be helpful in ridding you of the mines, you must paddle desperately away from it in order to stave off your own destruction.

    TECHNIQUES

There are two main strategies for prolonged play of Dubloon Disaster, and believe me, prolonged play will be necessary if you want a trophy.

    TECHNIQUE #1

The first strategy is to herd all of the mines together into a tight group so they won't be in your way, like this:

You can do this by leading them towards other mines, taking advantage of their habit of following you. If the group obstructs your path to a dubloon, you can lure them as an entire group out of the way.

    TECHNIQUE #2

The second technique is somewhat more dangerous. It involves "baiting" the mines into colliding with eachother, therefor destroying them. You must start by positioning yourself in the path between two mines, like this:

Then, as the mines draw closer, move further ahead, like this:

Then finally, move just a little further out of the way, and as the mines both attempt to move closer to you, they will collide, destroying eachother instead.

These are the two tactics you should learn in order to play Dubloon Disaster effectively. Be forewarned, though, it can take a very long time to earn enough points for a trophy. It's also unwise to take breaks from the game even if you bait all the mines into destroying eachother. It will only take one whirlpool while you're away grabbing a soda to put an end to your game.

In closing, thank you for reading my guide, any suggestions are appreciated, and I wish you the best of luck in getting a trophy!

Yeah they will eventually destroy eachother, leaving you with more mines to group back together. It's generally quicker than mine baiting though, and somewhat less risky - although it's not without its own risks. I personally use a combination of the two tactics; I heard them together and then blow them up when they become an inconvenience.

Grouping is much faster since there is a max 9 mines that can appear. Once you have them all grouped to gether you can have them follow you wherever you need them so you can get the dubloons. It's also much safer since, if you're not acting crazy, the only way you can die is when a whirlpool appears under you or a mine appears under you. With all 9 mines grouped, you don't have to worry about a mine appearing under you.

Yep, prettymuch what Jazz said. I'd only recommend mine baiting to players who need to take a break and are willing to risk a whirlpool, or players who aren't having success with the herding strategy.

Well, this certainly gives me an idea of how to achieve a trophy-earning score, but getting 5 figure scores must take some real patience and theres not a great deal of room for error... has anybody legitimately earned a trophy for this, and if so exactly how long did it take?

Took me about 45 minutes to get a score of about 16,000 for a gold trophy, a long time ago.

Sorry for bumping this, but I'm playing the game for the first time since it's been reworked (I know, I'm old) to see if I can still get the avvie.

In the new version, if you charge straight at a mine, it doesn't explode, it swings around you. You only blow up if the mine collides into you. The tricky part is hitting it straight on. =)

Thought that this might be worth something - it's helping me, anyway.
