Currently reading "Pet Sematary" by Stephen King, and the beginning alone is worth recommending. The style it's written in is very detailed, but easy to understand, keeps you going It's a horror/fiction type of genre, I'm not sure about the age group.

Im currently reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire xD I started over for the 20th? time reading the series, I love it and have forgotton some of the details - it makes for a nice surprise :arf:

Name of book: Catcher in the Rye Author: JD Sallinger Genre: ??? Brief description: It's about a kid who can't conform to any group, and can't even be civil to half of the people he's around, and somehow the book is declared a 'classic'. JD Sallinger should have been shot for writing such incoherent drivel. Please do NOT read this book, you just get pissed off by the complete lack of structure, constant digression, and prolific use of the word 'phony'. Approx age group: N/A Rating: 0.01/10 Recommend it?: If you're tempted by suicide, and need cause: please read this book. Anything else: It's like slashing your wrists in a jar of salt and lemon juice.

*lol* at Will's valuation of Catcher in the Rye. (Seriously, though...that book had absolutely no plotline besides the main character ranting about how sucky life was.) Name of book: City of Glass (Mortal Instruments series) Author: Cassandra Clare Genre: Fantasy, Action-Adventure Brief description: Clary follows this guy to a night club, and sees him murdered and disappear. It turns out he was a demon, and there's a group of people, the Nephilim, known as Shadowhunters who hunt down demons to keep humanity safe. That sounded a bit cheesy, but seriously, the books are absolutely awesome. Approx age group: I was 14 when I read the first book in this series (City of Glass), but really, for any age group. Rating: 10/10 Recommend it?: DEFINITELY! The books are awesome, and have a great combination of suspense/drama and action. Anything else: The third book came out a few weeks ago. (It's a trilogy.)
I'm currently reading Maus I: My Father Bleeds History by Art Spiegelman. It is a graphic novel about the Halocaust. The different races are represented using different animals to show the large difference between those races during that time. It is pretty interesting so far, read the first 4 chapters in the first book.

Name of book: Ender's Shadow Author: Orson Scott Card Genre: Science Fiction Brief description: It's about a kid who "grows up" on the streets and is then sent to Battle School to train to be a commander in the war against the "buggers". Approx age group: I'd say young teen and up Rating: So far 9/10 Recommend it?: Sure, it's a good read. Anything else: It's a parallel novel to Ender's Game which is also a very good book. I guess Ender's Game has three "sequels" (although they're set far into the future of what the first was) called Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide, and Children of the Mind. I haven't read any of those though so I can't comment.

Reading Outliers by Malcom Gladwell Brief Description: It's a book dealing outliers, people like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs and what faktors were important for there success. I would reccomend reading it, it is really interesting to see why some people are more successfull than others.
jfur_x, in my school district all the EEE (gifted program) 7th graders have to read Ender's Game. And after the first book, the series splits two ways to follow Bean's side of the story, and Ender's. I've read Bean's side of the story afterwards, and it was both very interesting and extremely creepy...but I'd definitely recommend finishing the series. =) Name of book: The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson and the Olympians series) Author: Rick Riordan Genre: Fantasy, Action-Adventure, Mythology Brief description: Percy is a demigod, a half-human half-God boy. The Last Olympiad was the finale for an epic series, so I'm not going to post spoilers, but the entire book series...anyone who enjoys action books or anyone with any interest in mythology should definitely read this series. I couldn't put the books down, I think I finished each book in a day. Approx age group: Anyone who can read. =D Rating: 10/10 Recommend it?: Indubitably. (Yes I did just use that colloquially. ) The entire series is absolutely amazing, especially for anyone interested in mythology. Anything else: This is the last book of 5.
I finished Ender's Shadow the other day and it was a pretty awesome book. I'll probably be picking up the other ones next time I go to the library. And of course, the other series I'm reading: Name of book: The Dark Tower series Author: Stephen King Genre: Fantasy, science fiction, horror, western Brief description: Roland is the last gunslinger in a world that has "moved on". The first book follows him as he chases down the man in black. Approx age group: I think I read the first one when I was 11 or 12. Rating: 10/10 Recommend it?: Yes. Anything else: The series goes like this The Gunslinger, The Drawing of the Three, The Waste Lands, Wizard and Glass, Wolves of the Calla, Song of Susannah, and The Dark Tower. I've read this series a couple of times and even though I'm a fan of all of Stephen King's works this series has to be my favorite.
