    Indeed, what in the world is happening with these "stimulus packages"? They don't seem very stimulating, in or out of bed >>;
As far as I can remember, one way President Obama made his way to the Presidency was by promising to shut down all of these Republican tax cuts that were 'no help'.
So, let's find another way to fix this problem, shall we? Like putting trillions of dollars down the drain not to help banks back on their feet, not to help keep the middle, or even lower class Americans stay afloat. Oh no. Rather, half of the trillion dollars that is being proposed for the new stimulus package is going towards lawn care/park projects, and the research to help STDs. Sure, I can understand the pity that goes towards those that were stupid enough to have unsafe sex, but WHY should we fund to find their cure (unless it's AIDS. That's semi-understandable)? Seriously. Can we PLEASE start providing funds that help ALL Americans and help get us OUT of the recession?

You always hear adults and your grandparents say, "well I can't believe the world that our children/grandchildren are going to be growing up in..." As a teen, I can honestly say I'm reaaaaally not looking forward to the debt I'm going to have to pay whenever I'm older. Fo real.

Giving $900 to all Australians was a great idea.

Firstly, a bunch of the people who got it were out of work, so they kept it and didn't use it for any economic "stimulus".

Secondly, people who don't even live in Australia got them. eg. a 70 year-old woman who hadn't even been living in Australia for 30 years o_O

Thirdly, it didn't go to the generation hit hardest by the recession: my generation. We all lose our jobs, but since most of us hadn't paid tax before the year that you had to to qualify for it, we didn't get anything. So, essentially, it was just giving to those with jobs.. who would be wise with their money, as opposed to the poor teens who would go out and spend it.

IMO the stimulus packages are just a crock of shit to gain votes. Pardon my French.

Stimulus packages are not what we're looking for...something that'll get us debt later, and something that doesn't work. Not a good combination for anything :(

To be honest, Stimulus Plan is just to start people to spend money

In order to get out of debt, people need to get jobs

They need to get money to provide for their family

The Stimulus Plan only offers a way for the family to "get out of the gutter"

    It won't provide them forever

The most important thing our economy needs right now is jobs, and better paying jobs. It is absolutely ridiculous what the minimum wage is right now. How is someone supposed to afford 500+ for rent when mwage is 6 or 7 bucks an hour. That is why everyone is on all these poor people programs and America is paying all these taxes. If mwage was 8 to 9 an hour it would help a great deal.

It's better not to post anything if you don't have an opinion you can support.

I'm sorry, but CEOs' salaries really can't dip below 9 million per year :( .. everyone else needs to suffer.

That made me laugh out loud.

And from your first post, you're exactly right. Giving money to a bunch of stable, middle class adults doesn't help too much. They're just going to store the money away for when times really hit bottom. Which makes me sad. I'm not saying giving money to teenagers is necessarily a good idea, but... We'd spend it. New camera and iPod anyone...?

The Stimulus Plan is a plan to try to help Americans back on their feet

It's only a temporary boost, and nothing long-term

Thus, if Americans aren't able to find jobs, then it's a total failure (and it is/will be if people don't start spending money)
