My procrastination is soo bad . I honestly can't control it anymore . xD Does anyone have any methods ?
I like my 'just do it method'. Normally, my subconscious method of procrastination is to do stuff I'm not supposed to, but give myself a time limit. I keep extending the time limit and before I know it, it's 11:35 pm and I have no time to write my essay. Instead of doing random, useless stuff when you get home, do you dang homework. xD I know this sounds stupid, but it really does work. JUST DO IT.
You really just have to dig in deep and start it right when you can. Do it for a bit and it'll become a habit hopefully. I love how even though I procrastinate all the time, if I just get the work out of the way I feel a lot better. Yet somehow, I never do what's best for me.
=D The threat of something, or looming threat is a good thing to have. Usually tight deadlines that are make it or break it work really well for me. Usually I have to mentally move the due date up a day or 2 and try to force myself to think it's due then in order for me to get any work done. If all else fails....there's always methylphenidate.
Yeah i was like that but once you have a GF or wife it all changes you do stuff just to get some quiet lol
procrastination...hmmms... the only way that works for me is to just plan to have no fun or relaxation for one whole day and get a whole bunch of things done. aka "just do it"
Wait until the deadline comes up. Pull an all-nighter. See how you do the next day. That should be motivation enough
I think what you need is my "mindset". I use to procrastinate alot, but then I put in the mindset that I have to finish this or I it will end badly.
The problem is that I do pretty damn well. =/ I mean find, I'm tired, but not much more than I usually am.
It's not something that's going to be a quick fix, that's for sure. Really, it's going to be you telling yourself that you have to work on this right now. All it is is self-motivation. Work on that. Though really I'm not sure if I should be giving advice like this. I'm not exactly the poster child for non-procrastination. I'm awful myself. xD
I am quite possibly the worst procrastinator ever, but what works for me is turning EVERYTHING off that distracts me, and forcing myself into an area where I can be bothered and going through what I have to do. XD It sucks but it works, for me at least. Or I take a bath and drink tea. It calms me down and helps me concentrate on what I need to do.
I'm pretty bad procrastinator myself. I tells you some of the stuff i have done, has surprised even myself. I remember doing an English essay 10 hours before it was due and i got an A. Same thing when i had homework due except i did maybe an hour before class. While i may have a bad procrastination habit, it doesn't affect my life in the slightest. I use a a tactic called Structured procrastination. Essentially its like this, i have about five things on my to do list. 1.Clean my room 2. Study for my Spanish accreditation exam 3. Clean the bathroom 4. Find a job. 5. Go sell blood plasma Of these things the most important to least important is 1. Find a job 2. Study 3. Clean Bathroom 4. Sell blood plasma 5. Clean room Now i should right now be look for a job. But i am procrastinator. So i am gonna clean my room first. And before i know i have done something. Now while a job is probably important for me, i can put it off for a bit. considering that i have the option to take out student loans, or sell items of my private possession. And so this keeps going. Instead of finding a job i clean the bathroom or study or finally get around to selling my plasma.
From my understanding, and from the viewpoint of a chronic procrastinator (hence why I'm here), procrastination arises from a lack of concentration. Therefore, take lots of coffee and lots of energy drinks with taurine in it so you have increased concentration. Then unplug your computer, TV, cable, gaming console, and do your work. Unless, of course, you need to use your computer for work: then you do both. Go on NF and ask for help on your work. Epic win.
I've been struggling with procrastination too. It's rather a big problem, but you've just got to knuckle down and do it. Better late than never though, so it's never worth going over your head thinking it's the end of the world if you haven't done what you said you would do in the time that you said you would.
