Anyone watching a show by CBC? It talks about hacking and how easy it is to do alot of demage via the internet.

It had a story about a 15 year old kid who was able to completely shut down Yahoo and many other billion dollar websites, by over loading them. He cost billions for these sites, and he only served 8 months in juvinal prison.

What are your thoughts on this, I think some ppl in this site would probably be able to do something like this :O

I don't know, It was on like 30 mins ago. it was like 2 hours long. It's just crazy how they describe it, and they say that there isn't much to defend againt the overload hack. Meaning to many requests are sent to a certain site, and it's unable to proccess it all and it shuts down.

I haven't seen this, but a little knowledge in the wrong hands is more dangerous than a lot of knowledge in the right hands... IT seems like people like to do things like this just to prove they can... or publicity, without thinking of the consequences... I'm not saying some of the hacking things aren't cool, but some people don't consider others when doing so.

If you speak to MOST real hackers, you'll find out they aren't typically malicious... I haven't seen this show, and I can see how it could be dangerous in the wrong hands. However, the information to do anything you want to do is on the net any way... Maybe this will introduce knowledge on the potential atackee's end and help them to be prepared for those malicious hackers, knowledge is power :)

Knowledge is power, and you're right not until 5 years ago, most hackers were teens, hacking for poblicity, and as a source of entertainment.

Crazy how much confidence anonymity on the internet gives people really, most people aren't used to that much influence in real life, intoxicates them with the power. Kind of like how movie/rock stars spin out of control, hackers with crazy skills kind of lose perspective and do something they regret. The guys that do it for the fun I would call grey hackers just doing it for the Lulz, there are even white hackers that do the work for security firms and stuff. Any infamous 'Black' hackers?

    just googled it http://www.itsecurity.com/features/top- ... rs-042407/

interesting read with the black hat white hats most infamous is a 16 year old :D, the older ones are not getting caught XD

I read this thing the other day about a blind teenage guy who 'phone hacked' for about five years. He scammed a load of company's, he even hacked into the FBI phone network, and got them to go get people he hated. He was blind but he learn the dial tone things. He ended up in prison. ;D

That's some epic DDOS right there. But that's not really hacking, and it's relatively simple, given that there are retards in the world who have P2P programs running 24/7, their computers never off, and various scanners never on.

If that's what I'm thinking it is, from you brief description ;D
