I could never really get into Zelda, nor could I really get into Final Fantasy, but I'd say FF has the better story and game by far.
Hate Final Fantasy. Yes I've played them. I expect more from my games than emo pretty boys. Zelda had class. (8 Majora's Mask and OoT ftw. Also Oracle of Ages <3
final fantasy for sure... It rocks and with all the series....I finished watching the anime...it was awesome
Hm... The first Zelda game ever played was for the Wii. Never really played FF, so I'll go with Zelda! XD
I prefer FF because of the long story lines and you have to use your thinking skills a little more to solve things, but then again I only played like 20mins of twilight princess. Got kinda bored with it, I should pick it up again though.
If you want a good game, play Zelda. If you want a good story, read a book. Final Fantasy games are nothing but constant overblown "go here, now go here, now read a bunch of text, now go here" instructions with random interruptions from the worst invention in gaming ever, random encounter battles. Seriously, think about it. Strip away the so called "story", and what you have is a game in which all you do is move from one area to the next, being occasionally interrupted to do battle by selecting your actions from a menu. The Final Fantasy series are not games. They are interactive stories, and lousy ones at that. The games with the best/deepest/most complex stories (FF VII, for example) are mired by horrible translations, pathetic dialogue, virtually zero character development and derisive, eye-rolling "emotional" nonsense. I know of FF VII's story and it probably would have made a great book. As a story presented by a mediocre game, it is absolute crap. FF VI, VIII & IX just have linear, mediocre stories that are no more deep than any other game. Bonus points to FF V for being a self-parody and having a fairly deep battle system. Also, why is every Final Fantasy hero a whiny she-boy? As for Zelda games, they're good games and all, but massively overrated in my opinion. Who on Earth thought it would be a good idea to have Link turn into a wolf for half a damn game?
have you ever played a video game? you're way over thinking everything... Instead of analyzing every aspect of a video game you need to just enjoy the fruits of the developers labor. Especially for some of the most epic video games ever created. Now personally i couldn't choose between zelda or FF. I like zelda because it's a live action game, but the story isn't as deep. Whereas FF the random battles get old really fast, but i love the stories, even though they tend to be predictable and really mushy...
I find it difficult to enjoy a "game" that is 20% Walking to the next area, 20% Random encounters, 40% Text-scrolling and 20% Stuff you wouldn't see, find or even know about if not for a guide. Don't deny that last one. FF games are notorious for severe "Guide Dangit" abuse.
I'm definitely going to have to go with the Final Fantasy Series... Never was a fan of Zelda.. However there was one semi decent one I think back on the N64... Still, nothing beats a good final fantasy game. (I'm still crying over finishing FF VIII... I loved that song and the story line.
Zelda all the way... Remember when Ocarina of Time was first released? oh goodness best game. Of course there was a load of puzzles and whatnot but I liked the story and all the other side things you could go do. Collecting hearts, riding Epona, diving etc... I have and will always be a Zelda fan.
