I have a social studies teacher who is anti bush. Whenever a current event is brought up she will say how bush is reasponsible and when someone says that bush has done something good she will say that he didn't
I am all for free speech but oushing your opoinons on your students shouldn't be done

Lord no, teachers should teach you to think for yourself, and form your own opinions, even if they don't agree with it. No one should push or force their opinions on anyone else.

No if anything teachers should be inspiring students to think for themselves. If other people try to push their own opinions (whether right or wrong) is how fascism starts.

i agree. i dislike those who push opinions onto you. even more when people take those opinios just because theyve been told them.

yeah , go ahead and state your opinion. that i respect, but dont make a bunch of followers. let them decide for themselves.

No, I agree with the people above me. Teachers are meant to be inspirational and help their students learn and form their own opinions. Teachers have a right to their own opinion and should say it but remind their students that it is only the teacher's opinion and that they should form their own. A good teacher can have their own opinion yet respect an opposing opinion, especially if it is one from their own student.

    Thats just my 2 cents.

I had a English teacher who was cathloic, that didnt go to well when the pope died with me. Because i could've cared less.

Personally, I think teachers should post their opinions, not enforce them though. They should make the students though, speak out thier opinions, and back it up with research and reasons. That would be good learning process and also, makes for good educated debates. Thats what we did in my Social Studies classes.

Teachers are there to teach not preach. I believe a teacher has a right to state their own opinion just like everyone else but the teacher should also TEACH bothe sides of the story instead of just their own side of things.

I think teachers SHOULD be allowed to let their opinions be known but pushing ANYTHING is not good for the obvious reason that people should make up their own minds about things. The unfortunate thing about this is that a lot of people are not very intellegent and are misinformed or not informed at all about a lot issues and don't really know what is going on.

    I'll say no. Why?
Your opinion is unique to others' opinions. What you say can be very different from what is the reality of it. However, if the opinion is based on cold hard facts, then there's no harm to it. We can always weigh the general consensus.

Especially with teachers, they are the ones who teached us and we will naturally think that what they say is the right. Therefore, one has to be very careful not to mislead others from facts to fiction.

I dont think teachers should push their opinions on students. Students should make their own decisions. How will they go through life if they dont make their own decisions

Personally I feel a teacher has their right to their own opinion and it's OK if they talk about their opinion.

But most importantly, a teacher should show there are aways other sides to all issues and should teach students to be open to ALL opinions before making up their "own" mind.

I don't believe in the "blind leading the blind".

No, but i appreciate my teachers opinions. This may be because i study sciences and politics (and maths, but you cant really have an opinion in numbers :p.) and most of them have intresting and well developed views in their related fields. But, i take anything they say that could be biased with a pinch of salt.

Hell no! Nobody should force their opinion on anyone. Voicing is okay, forcing is terrible. The last person who tried to force his opinion on me got a permanent foot mark on his face.

We can think for ourselves thank-you very much, even if adults think we're wrong which is 99.9% of the time

We are entitled to our own opinions but best to listen around. It depends if teachers are forcing us to believe what they do or just talking about it from their perspective

    1. NO way, I mean maybe if you've done something wrong they can say like "that was wrong" but not their personal opinions.

    2. I hate teachers that think it's okay to push their idea in your face.

Arent they forcing their opinions, or the opinions of society on us as part of teaching?

Ryan - If you notice the previous post was gravedigging... please report the post and don't just post another message
