Heart Gold & Soul Silver USA/CAD release tomorrow.. DISCUSS!

I'm so excited for this. I reserved my Soul Silver copy, this is gonna be amazing! The pokéwalker looks incredible!
Which version are you getting? Is it the same one as you had in the original G/S?

I'd totally but Heart Gold because Pokemon Gold was literally my first Pokemon game.

 

I don't want to get a DS for this one game (ironic, because I got my first ever gameboy for Red Version), but if I had one already, I would love to get this game. Of course, when Fire Red and Leaf Green came out, I felt old because some eight year old kid at the pool I was life guarding didn't get that there was ever just a Red version. Back in my day, we only had 150 Pokemon and when you caught them all, your game was over and you were damn grateful.

 

R4 ftw =] I'll probably just get one cause playing both will get dull...gold and silver were the best out of the series, very happy to see a remake =]

 

I was planning on going to my 24-hour Walmart at midnight to get it, but when I called the store the morons working there were like, "Oh, pokemon? Well our store won't be stocking any new games until later in the week. You'll have to wait until then to get the game." Sounded kinda drunk too... But I don't want to really drive all the way out there to come home without a game.

But I do plan on getting HG since gold was my very first one. I may end up getting SS later anyways, though.

 

I've already finished Heart Gold. I played through the japanese version, i expect i missed quite alot since i couldn't understand any of the talk

I tried downloading and playing the US version but it crashes like every 30 minutes. I'll just wait for a patch.

 

OMG the anti piracy measures on this game cause it to freeze every 15 minutes if its a ROM. Grrr and i leave for my carribean cruise in an hour so i can't wait for the fix.

What shall i do on the plane now with no HG/SS?

I live in Australia too, just google CycloDS and buy CycloDS Evolution and then download all you want. Costs about $80 and you'll never have to buy another DS game. PM me if you want a link

Good luck getting all the pokemon now. Theres what, like 486 or something. Sad thing is, i could name every single one

 

I should go pick up heart gold, seeing as how the old gold version was probably my favorite of them all

 

I played Pokemon when I was a kid, but now the very existence of the series makes me sad, especially this iteration. The Pokemon series has essentially been the same game, released over and over with slightly varying locations and an increasingly small handful of new additions (to the pokemon roster that is; gameplay itself remains almost entirely unchanged) in each generation. They've even had the balls to outright re-release the exact same game under a new name with changes that probably took 30 minutes to make & apply, under names like "Yellow" and "Platinum".

But now, the ever-unchanging series seems so starved for ideas that they're outright re-making past versions...and not for the first time!

And in spite of the DS packing power roughly comparable to the N64, Pokemon games still use 2D pictures and 8-bit sounds for the Pokemon battle sprites/cries?

Why do people stand for this? For god's sake people, demand something new, demand innovation, demand the original winning formula be built and expanded upon rather than simply added to in trickles.

I'd rather play something really out there, like a steampunk-themed action-RPG where a player takes on the warhungry government of a dystopian city-state, destroying their coal-powered tanks, steam-powered airships and clockwork robot guards with a six-chambered revolving shotgun and a Squirtle.

theres no patch for it yet.
