God: Is he real?

I believe that God is something you must experience in order to truly believe. I've had many experiences in my life that the only answer for it is a higher power: God

 

I believed until I took Biology, Chemistry + Physics. :/

Some nice physical evidence we have would be the Shroud of Turin. It is a controversial piece of evidence, but none the less, real. Google it.

I'm going to identify your argument for you, because you may or may not know what you are saying. You are talking about an age old issue called "The Problem of Evil". This has been debated many times, and has received responses from many famous philosophers. I direct you to a debate between Lewis and Hume, two very respected men.

What do you mean by a classical education?

 

I really believe it depends on your dfinition of god... If God is a living being watching over us and making things happen, then i dont believe he exists...However, if you believe god is just a symbol to make people work harder, and value life, then its a different story

It's definitely beyond human ability to figure out for sure if there is an existence of a God. I'm a free-thinker, but definitely nowhere near being an atheist; I think we should just respect all religions.

I am not a religious person, I dont go to church, dont have any regular practices as far as religion goes, dont even pray, like ever. Nobody really has the answers, nobody knows for sure. You have to decide what you believe. In the end your going to find out if you where wrong lol

 

Why must he be a HE. How so you know there not more than one. I think there is something out there other than us. But is it a God I don't know about that. Do I think he wrote the bible no. Its a book written by men put together by an emperor. He left so many writings out for a reason. For his agenda.

^ To clarify, are you talking about 'his' 'gender'? Or the fact that we're assuming that there is only one God, if God really exists?

If it's the former, English just dictates that if we're not sure about the gender, just call them a 'he'. How very unfair, hmph!


Regarding the bible, well... personally I do have my views but I shall not talk about Christianity per se, since this topic is about religion in general. I do respect all beliefs, though. Flaming is a definite no-no :X

I beleive religions were 100% created by man to help them cope with tough hurdles in life. I especially don't believe in the christian faith, it is by far the most rediculous series of "facts" I have ever seen. Not to mention contradictions. Do I believe in God - Absolutely not... Do I believe religion has a positive side - Absolutely. Unfortunately it has a HUGE negative side as well.

 

God gave us choice. God didn't wanted robots to serve him. He even gave this choice to his own angels. That's why there are dark angels too.

And God is perfect, so he/she has no gender. but God is referred as a "he" because the Bible got used to refer him like that.

There is a New Age religion going on for a long time which I seem to think many people that posted in this board seem to believe in it.

 

I went to Catholic school from preschool to 8th grade, and all that learning about God made me NOT believe in him. I don't know why, but I guess it's just not logical to me. Had I not gone, I probably still would because in school, we were always learning about religion that public schools would never have gotten. I'm not ruling out a greater being out there though. I think God was created by people to feel like they had some purpose in the world.
