I think instead of someone spamming to get there ranks up, there should be a donations system where if you donate x ammount your rank goes up, keeps funds in NF where it is needed

To be honest the people who donated in the past are mostly ones who wants points to buy programs and such.
    Almost none of them wanted to donate because they have extra cash to spare {Except Junior maybe but i'm not too certain of that either}
I don't see why a rank up would be beneficial. The black market Lv1 rule is implemented to prevent scams. I don't see how that serves justice for people to be able to reach lv 1 because they donated. For all we know they could have been selling scammed stuff on other forums and a few dollars would be nothing to them.

Beyond the BM and lv 1 and stuff..lv 2,3,4 are just the..ranks that are "there". True you get one extra forum to view, but it's not like much ever happens there. Lv 5 is a rank to be voted into, and donating won't get you into that.
Don't know how attractive this idea would be to people to donate for ranks that isn't that significant {No offense, just trying to state a point}.

    I agree with this

but maybe if there was a "Donator" award, people would be inclined to donate for it
if i could get a new award for say a 5 or 10 dollar donation, i wouldn't mind throwing out a few bucks for it

I was also thinking of an award... If Simone donates they should be rewarded

...You do get rewarded. At least, I did.

I got forum cash in return :p (I did it randomly because I could... And I was making money from being a member here as I was selling stuff.. so wanted to give some back.. was only a small donation but still, every bit counts!)

If I start selling again, I'll donate again. Why? I don't know.. I don't need cash.. I don't need rewards... It's just good to give back once in a while. Plus this site is not free to keep up and running.

I don't think getting rank promotion is a good idea... The title idea.. meh, I'm not fussed. I guess if it will get people to want to donate then it can't hurt but, people should want to anyway ;)

EDIT: And I agree 100% with the below post by Rena!!

Yes, and some (in fact, most!) people on here have no means of donating. Some aren't working, so they've no income. And hinting at them to sell their neopoints to donate isn't feasible too - some don't have enough neopoints, some don't want to cheat for neopoints, and I'm sure there are some people on here are still completely legit and want to stay that way.

Also, we want the ranking system to be based on merit. No offence but... some people are a lot more well-off in terms of material needs / wants in real life as compared to others, so they'll find it easier to fork out cash. e.g. Some people may consider $50 to be a small sum but others will feel the pinch. I... don't really think it's right to see someone donate $xx and be Level IV straight away while someone who can't afford that much be stuck at Level I or so. Not to mention how morally wrong it is in actual fact.

I think the posting policy is still the most feasible - it's based on merit, so everyone starts off on equal ground.

She basically summed it up. I don't think donation/money should be brought into the equation when we're talking about ranks. I for one know that if that was the case it'd probably deter me from wanting to be a part of this site. The way this site is run/set up it almost feels like a family lol. And like what Mooie said, it's just a level... why does it matter so much?

Not telling because you'll just be jealous psshh..
I think Programs and Community are two different things.
People paying to get to the programs quicker, well that's fine. It's a program, and it keeps income - however much - coming in and helping the site run. However ranks are here to show your dedication to the forum (notice how it's NON SPAM POSTS? x:). When you stick to a site, it shows dedication and in return you move up ranks and get respected more as well. Of course, no one ever SAYS that you'll be better respected when you're a higher rank, but of course it's true. Of course there may be some AWESOME people who are still newbies but are too AWESOME for you to not talk to, but in general a higher rank equals more respect. I don't see what's wrong with that, it's fine as it is because if you post more, and have a good attitude towards things, then you're more respected, simple as that. No one wants to 'respect' someone just because they can fork out for moving up ranks. I, for one, wouldn't be able to move up ranks if this was in place seeing as I can't donate for reasons I'm sure you're ALL aware of. xDD

Okay mooie you aren't right! Ranks aren't just to be "there". Some people judge other people by their rank. The only thing that this idea would sound beneficial if there was a special rank for donors and a special blackmarket and a special chat and a special community and a special colour but as Rena said the majority here don't have means to donate. :yup:

You're the only one who thinks ranks mean something. Normal people understand that they're pretty much useless...

You're the one who's not right. No one here judges by rank if you're a good person.
