I don't know if I'm the only one, but I hate this 3D thing that's going around. Not only does it cause increased ticket prices, but it rarely has too huge of an effect on the movie - and besides the effect it causes usually acts a detraction to the film. Besides that, 3D can not be seen by at least 12% of the population. I'm truly hoping that 3D is a fad just waiting to die out, but I'm worried it won't. I don't find myself having too much of a problem with the movie if it's released in both formats. Of course I scoff at the moneygrubbing (particularly when the 3D was added in post), but at least I can choose to see the non-3D version. Movies that are released solely in 3D are skipped by me and most of my friends and family for many reasons - the lack of effect, the inflated prices and the discomfort of the stupid glasses we have to wear - and I'm sure we're not the only ones. What do you think of 3D?
I used to hate 3D movies. I would get a headache. Recently I gave it another chance, Step Up 3D. I think it has improved. It will take more time before it becomes amazing.
Hated the concept of Step Up 3. Atombomb and me are opposites. I used to love it before as a child, but I despise all 3D movies now. I feel like they take away from the message of the film rather than add to it, and worst of all, it hurts my head trying to keep up with all the things they're trying to pull off all at once.
Never watched one before, since I know I'm not going to enjoy it, it damages ur eyes and is tiring. I've like watched 30 second of a 3D clip before and I don't really like it. No 3D for me!
I don't watch 3D movies, you're not alone in hating them. To me they're just... meh. It's more money and it makes me dizzy, and the movie is JUST as good in 2D. Plus, I'm not really a graphics person. I don't care how awesome and realistic everything you show me looks. If I wanted to see thigns that look amazing and realistic, I'd go look out a window for 2 hours. I mean sure it's a bonus, but I'd rather see something like South Park which is noted for it's pretty terrible animation, but at least will have me entertained, then something which can do amazing things with its cinematography, but forgets that it's supposed to be telling a story.
I would personally prefer a regular ol' 2D movie any day, because of the price and because of the fact that most of the effects are the corny jumping-out-at-you kind rather than ones that make the movie better in any way. However, when I do end up watching 3D movies I'm always glad that they at least have progressed beyond those ridiculous red and blue glasses.
Hey it's a new trend that will settle down along with it's prices and all and would become a standard feature for every movie. I guess it's safe to compare it the CD's with the old movie casettes. We haven't seen all the good things that can come to this. :yup:
I'm not so sure about that, FastBullet. A number of directors have critisized 3D saying it's useless and detracts from the movie, and that they'll never use it. Christopher Nolan, for one - going on a run of two box-office smashes and working on another that's sure to be, says that if 3D becomes commonplace he'll stop making movies... And with what it costs to go 3D, indie films would never be in 3D.
What exactly does this 3D thing do? Does it just make it look like that things are poking out of the screen?
Basically that's it. I dunno, I don't mind it too much. But it really doesn't that huge an impact on the movies. But I hate that it costs more. It's really annoying.
I don't mind 3D movies every once in a while, but there have been so many lately it's starting to get annoying. I mean, just because you can make a movie in 3D doesn't mean you should. I'm okay watching funny/non-serious movies in 3D, but I can't take an intense movie seriously when it's in 3D Hopefully, it's just a fad.
I don't like them.... Why the hell would I pay $13 for a stupid "3D" movie? There's nothing wrong with 2D and it's a lot cheaper. It might help if they made a good movie in 3D. Not every movie should be played 3D and if that's the case they should at lest play it in 2D also.
Judging by the movie ads, Despicable Me is in 3D. What does that amount to? Is the experience really any different (besides having to wear funny-looking glasses)?
It has some bits made to be 'oh cool' when it's in 3D, but the movie perfect without the glasses. It's a gimmick.
The roller coaster scene in Despicable Me was enough to see it in 3D. I'm sorry but I'm going to have to disagree with what Galifanakis said. I saw the movie twice and it was much more enjoyable in 3D. (And I'm not usually a person who loves 3D either)
Well I'm also a member of the population who has trouble seeing 3D. Not everyone sees it as well as the next person, and some can't see it at all (another reason 3D won't monopolize the industry). I can sort of see it, but nothing is particularly 'amazing' about it. When I saw How to Train Your Dragon people were gasping at how cool some of the flying scenes were, but I just saw things poke out a little bit, and not to the point it made the extra money worthwhile.
3D is just a gimmick to get people to go to the movies. It was popular back in the 60's to get people to go in to the movies because television was detracting from movie sales. Ugh I had to learn about it in a class too and I just hate it now because I hated that teacher.
I probably won't ever be able to see a 3D movie, since I wear glasses and would probably have to spend the whole movie holding up the 3D glasses up to my eyes. Fortunately it won't be too much of a loss, judging by people's comments.
I think 3D is really annoying--and quite honestly, it seems that every new bit of technology has it. Its almost like one person came up with the idea and the rest of the electronics companies decided that everything needed to have it. I would actually pay extra to see the movie in 2D. lol. And i'm not going to point fingers, but if anybody sees a user spamming, your job is to click the red exclamation point on the right and report it as spam. You're not supposed to leave negative rep for it. Just a general reminder for everybody.
I think that some movies (cough Avatar cough) base the entire thing on the fact that it is 3D and on how to make it look cool rather than on the plot of the movie, which I don't like when they make me pay an extra three bucks to see it
