I'm surprised that no one has posted this. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/special_reports/chile_mine/ On October 13, the 33 Chilean miners who were trapped 700 meters below the surface were finally rescued. They are currently recovering at the hospital and will soon be able to go home to their families.
Simply an amazing story. It's awesome that they were retrieved so much before they were expected to be.
*giggles* 69. did they have food/water/urination systems? I don't want to look for myself because it has sound, and it could be a CG
They had all that.. and showers.. and even psychiatrists I believe It's amazing you should really read it
You've got to be kidding me. <_< The link clearly leads to bbc.co.uk, so unless I've managed to put a CGer BBC's website... Anyway, you don't have to look at the audio slideshow or whatever. You can simply scroll down and look at the other articles. BBC has an entire special report on the miners, with lots of flashy graphics. Yes, they had food/water. No, they didn't have bathroom facilities.
cookie grabber my friend, program/script that tricks your browser into sending a cheater your cookies.
It's too bad that the governments of countries prone to mining accidents (especially China) have not bothered to up their mining safety regulations after this incident. In fact, some Chinese miners just got killed/trapped after a mine explosion: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-11557581 Chilean politicians didn't seem to have done much either, besides using the event for publicity to benefit themselves.
lol, pretty sure he was kidding about that Anyways I was watching this live for a bit and one of the miners kept getting in the cameras way, but yeah, its amazing what they went through. Seeing them come out for the first time and watching people cheering them on, was awesome. Great job done to rescue them.
The first thing I thought when reading this was "Bhaha 69, that's funny" On a more serious note though, I think it's a lot they've been through. Staying underground for 69 days, not being able to go anywhere, not knowing when, if at all, you will be able to get out again. I'm glad they got rescued.
I would have gone absolutely insane just for staying home for 69 days! I can't even imagine what that would be like... But I have a complain about the media coverage. At least here, they treated this case like it was some freaky reality show. Clearly desperate for audience points, the TV channels were absolutely disrespectful, invading the families privacy in such a painful moment, just so they could broadcast some new facts, usually irrelevant, about those guys lifes. And the worse! People were watching it like a Big Brother show! It's really sad that those guys were trapped for so long, but it's much sadder to see how greedy and morbid people are, even in tragic occasions.
Ya, 69 days stuck in a cave with nothing to do and with other guys :/ hell much? I am glad they got rescued!!!
Now whenever I hear "Chilean miners" I think of my friend's halloween costume, who was a miner with a sign saying "Please rescue me so I can face my wife and mistress"
