Maybe people who get the most referrals per month could get an award or someyhing...or have a referral program started

This could be a good idea.. but get rewarded cash or something?

however i can see people would make fake accounts to get referalls.

Really? This website is advertised in many places, especially that website where you find greasemonkey scripts.

It's actually the opposite. More members = more potential programmers = more programs = easier for Ricky to keep the site going.

Referral benefits has been suggested before, but it's more probable to get fake accounts and that the advertising will be looked upon as simple spam.

We did have a youtube ad contest once though, it was alot of fun but unfortunately not many contributions.

Think of a reasonable price and it'll get done, I'd settle for 10 cash for each referral that makes >50 posts (Non-spam/non-multi) etc. Or something along those lines :p

If you get cash, i think this referall system would be good. you will just have to make sure that no one makes loadsa dud accounts :O

I think a better system would be one in which the referrer got 1 cash for each time his referral earned 2 cash. This way, people wouldn't just refer themselves and make loads of accounts.

I like this idea however i feel like 1 for every 2 of your referrer is a little too much. i mean you don't want the person that was referred to carry the original along. I'd go more for like every 10 posts the referred makes the referrer gets 1 cash.

That would be so little though.

A referral system is suppose to reward people for making the website popular. If he can invite enough people to be carried by his referrers, then good for him.

Its not like these points can be exchanged for real money.

I think that there would have to be some restrictions.. like the new referal has to post like 30 times or something then the person who refered them gets 5 points

I like that idea. Also, maybe to give incentive for the person being referred to be active they get like 2 points per post for their first 30 posts. Just thoughts.

That seems fair. The regular rate is 1 point per post, right?

I was thinking along the lines of like every 15 referrals you get like 25 cash. I'd say it is a good ratio to prevent people from referring themselves and such because they would have to do it 15 times for only 25 cash, they can easily just post 25x much faster for the cash.

Basically it would have to be legit referring or else it would be a huge effort adn waste of time to refer fake accounts for just 25 cash

Also have to make it worthwhile, getting 15 people to post 25 times is some achievement xD And definitely worth more than 25 cash.

I have never been a fan of referral systems.. and I've never taken part in it.

Maybe thats why I never liked it. Probably because IO was always to embarrassed to refer people to Neopets...

I can refer a few of my neofriends here though XD

This would be a great idea! It looks like the previous posters have a nice gameplan :)
