We had a 4.8 earthquake a year ago and it wasn`t that big and I have lived here for 10 years and never had one. It wasn`t that big and they say that was big?

This was crazy. I live in Chicago, and I was Skyping with a friend in New York. Next thing you knew her face dropped and plants hanging in the background started swaying. It was the nuttiest thing I have ever seen. Hope everyones alright, glad it wasnt worse.
I'm from New york and when the earthquake hit, i was enjoying myself at a restaurant with a couple of friends. When it happened i was wondering who was shaking the seat. >.> My first guess wouldn't have been a earthquake though lol. so it was pretty shocking to find out that it was one.
Wow...I was just in D.C. and Baltimore the day after the earthquake . Didn't seem like there was that much damage from the earthquake, but usually, earthquakes don't even happen on the east coast. The main concern was actually Hurricane Irene, which dropped a ton of rain and knocked down a lot of trees.
