I was at Apple Corporate Headquarters a couple days ago... Everyone was in a mess because the new iPhone launch was the next morning. That seems pale in comparison now.
Lol and this morning a friend and I were making jokes about Steve Jobs, least to say I felt like a huge dick afterwards. RIP Steve. I loved my ipod before it got stolen. Can't say that much about this 3GS -___-
It wasn't sudden, but it is a loss. I wonder how long it will take before the memes start arriving about it. As for share prices, it would be interesting to see if the death had any effect on them at all. Steve leaving his position in Apple did.

In my newspaper yesterday people were asked how much Steve Jobs had affected their lives. I wonder if someone else prominent in a different manner, say the current Dalai Lama would have had as big an impact.

I think Apple will survive for a while, but I don't know how they will fare in the long run without the vision of Jobs....He will be missed...
Are *you* serious, Lightning? Because the iPhone 4S was announced before Steve Jobs died. Plus, there was the iPhone 3GS before, so it's not like it is unprecedented. Honestly, the in-between generations stuff is ridiculous. It's a, "hey, we're totally not ready for iPhone 5 yet, but we're going to make you spend $300 to upgrade your phone anyway. Oh, and it will be obsolete in a year." As someone who was involved with Apple (however brief the stay), I can say that Apple will do more than "survive" without Steve Jobs. He hadn't been involved with official management duties in about 4-5 years now, and Tim Cook is more than qualified for the position. He might not have the same larger-than-life charisma and reputation, but he can definitely do the job. Of course, I'm sad that someone died so young, and even sadder that it was of something as painful and brutal as pancreatic cancer, but from a business industry's perspective, it's no different than when Bill Gates retired from Microsoft. Microsoft's stock went down a few points for a few days, but then everyone got over their paranoia, and it's back to business as usual.

I don't mean to speak negatively about Steve Jobs, but I'm sure most of his money was left to his family. He wasn't known to be a very charitable person, unlike Bill Gates who is planning to leave over 90% of his money to various charities when he passes away. At the same time though, why should Jobs be expected to give away anything he's earned over the course of his career, you know?
