The release date for Star Wars: The Old Republic was announced last week and will be available to play on December 20th, 2011. Has anybody here got an invite into the beta and care to share whatever information you can? I've got the game pre-ordered, but am seriously considering cancelling my pre-order. As far as I can tell, the game is not going to have any real end-game content, and looks like it's more of a single story-telling game with very little to do with other people (other than participate in pvp content). But I think the thing that I'm the most unhappy is the way they are handling their idea of "space combat". Instead of being a bit of a sandbox in space, it's going to be more like an old arcade game where you can only fly in one direction and shoot at other ships as they fly by you. It's apparently going to look and play a lot like X-Wing vs Tie Fighter, but even less freedom of movement. And as much as I loved playing X-Wing vs Tie Fighter back in the day, I'm certain Bioware has the resources to come up with something new and more interesting to do in space. What are you thoughts?
Having already been paying monthly fees for xbox and netflix. I don't really want to add another $15 dollar monthly fee to my checkings account. Although I LOVED both KOTORS. Just not sure if I'm getting this. I mean I'm a huge fan of Bioware's games but I might just sit this one out. Speaking of Bioware - SOOOO EXCITED FOR MASS EFFECT 3.
My boyfriend got beta so I've been checking it out. It's pretty flat in my opinion and after the first two days of playing I was really bored. The storylines are pretty good and there's a lot of content but it just doesn't excite me. If you hated rift this is slightly better but if you're looking for something on par with how WoW was at the top of it's game this is surely lacking. I'm thinking that I'll probably buy it once it flops (I believe it will) just to check out the storylines- y'know, when it's priced similarly to how DC universe and Rift are now .
It's not looking good from my buddy who has been in beta since the beginning really. There is not much customization all around the board, limited classes even though there are plenty to choose from the SW universe, to the look of your character, even the item customization like why can't a Bounty Hunter use a rifle? Only pistols!... Even the UI is pretty cut and dry with limited customization, which no a days with any MMO UI is important to be able to change, since not all gamers like it only one way. I'm sure the story line will be good. Not excited over the graphics. Sifi never seems to make it in the MMO word. Were giving the game 3 months before a huge overhaul happens. ~dirt
Agree with Paris- the graphics really aren't all that. They say they're releasing a higher level of graphics when it's released but I doubt it'll be all that. Graphics wise I'm looking forward to Trine 2. The first was beautiful :3. I only half agree that sci-fi doesn't make it in the mmo world though- EVE online is a dominator in this field. There's a problem though- most sci-fi mmos are either sandboxes or lousy shooters. I think another problem is lack of humour- I want a game that'll make me smile over little things and sci-fi's just seem to lack it for me. Maybe if they made a Red Dwarf MMO I'd be into that .
My exact feeling... This guy told me that I'd like it so I figured, what the hell... (After beating skyrim like 3 times I needed a new game) Got the game 14 days ago ...I have 6 days 9 hours gameplay... Level 43 sith sorc, DPS My first MMO and I'm so hooked *I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE GETTING THIS GAME UNTIL BIOWARE DOES A FEW GOOD, STABLE PATCHES AND FIXES END GAME PVP. You don't want to roll a certain character then get f*cked. (cough operative cough) ----- Seperate issue: someone asked why BH have pistols, not rifles: Rifles are for the DPS/Heal/Stealth (Operative) and long range DPS/support (Sniper) They are long range, low rate of fire high damage Blaster pistols are for rogues... (Ie: bounty hunter) High rate of fire, less range, different damage allocation
If you do PVP, you're going to be very happy with endgame. It seems to me that DPS is the only viable option... The jedi Shadows and jedi Sages are apparently ridiculously OP/amazing in endgame Ilum/WZ pvp. Oh, and fun fact: Because jedi shadows are Stealth, DPS _and_ tank , they can get something like 12 max medals a warzone... With high level biochem I think its 14? As sorc I average like 6 (Albeit, I consistently get 1st on team or top 3 overall)
I've been playing this basically non-stop since the Australian servers have come online. I love it. I currently have a lvl 20 Jedi Sage, Lvl 18 Commando and Lvl 18 Sith Marauder. Sage is probably my favourite so far, then commando and marauder last. I plan on making a Bounty Hunter soon though, they look fun. Also, if there's any Aussies that play, PM me your names and what server your on
Star Wars: The Old Republic game is very good to play and all stage in this game are very hard to cross it. I like this game to play all time and i am spend three hours in a day to play this game. All effect are work look very nice, especially graphic and sound effects are make it best.
You'll be grinding a while. Those crystals will sell for shitloads. And thats if anybody would be willing to sell. I would wet myself if they made them bind on pickup.
If bioware ruins endgame , Progression and PvP then I'll probably move to D3 or GW2 1.2 looks promising though
i believe this is bioware's first mmo, it's looking good so far, but who knows, end game pve and pvp will determine the feasibility of this game
