I know everyone loves Saving Private Ryan, and I do too, but there are better war movies out there. A few examples off the top of my head: Bridge over the River Kwai, The Great Escape, and Das Boot. Best miniseries on WW2 is by far Band of Brothers. And a pretty good movie, although pretty off topic, is Hannibal Rising. (It is a post-WW2 movie... But hannibal is who he is because of WW2, so hey...)
"The Pacific" produced by Steven Spielberg is nice to watch. Probably one of the best HBO tv series ever showcased. The scene reflects what it's like in a war.
