Mmkai.. well.. I've never heard this "logic". I believe there's more scientific facts to prove that God doesn't exsist, rather than prove that he does.

If there were proof that God exsisted, then religion wouldn't be all about "faith", now would it?

Its real, i am an apathetic agnostic/atheist. That is , i dont know , and i dont really care. So far i think all major theistic relgions and concepts of a deity have some major flaws, so i dont follow any of their schools of thought. But if you want to worship a god, that is up to you. As long as you show respect to your fellow man , i dont care whether you pray to God, Allah or the FSM. :)

I just say let people believe what they want.

To directly answer the question, in my opinion, atheism is real. I quickly skimmed other replies...I think this idea of atheism being a fad comes from the fact that church attendance (in the US) is much lower than previous decades, perhaps people are justifying this by saying they are atheists. More likely, once again in my own opinion, is that a lot of people are simply losing faith in the popular religions of today. This seems to be a cycle...Ancient Greeks and Romans believed in their "myths", fast forward to a few hundred years later...in was nonsense (also the case with many other older religions). I guess what I'm saying is that religions are created and eventually die out or are changed and atheism is just starting to become a popular religion/ideology. Who's confused? lol *raises hand* It's no more a fad than Christianity was when Christians began to convert.

x3 I don't think that religon/politics are all the hot topics. "Are Paintbrush Prices getting TOO High?" is on top for me right now.

=) Both of those were made by me.

Oh, and I think the entire debate kind of got distraceted from the original question, by the way, if you actually look over the post. @__@

I never really mentioned religon at all come to think of it, or Christianity.

Atheism has been around longer than most organized religions, so yeah, it's a bit more than just a fad.

And no, logically you cannot prove that God exists. I challenge anyone (I'm lookin at you, Jhnboy) to post a proof for the existence of a god that is not flawed in any way.

As a Gacktist I say that it's fake, because too many people cannot think for themselves. Since there are so many easy ways to get answers to a lot of things, people these days will go for those easy answers, rather than working for it themselves. When something like Aetheism comes up, it seems like an answer to their questions, and they are lead to it. If people could think for themselves more, there wouldn't be so many falling for things like Aetheism.

You clearly did not put much thought into this...An atheist simply believes there's no god, that is it.

You shouldn't consider atheism fake (by the way, atheism isn't this made up idea; therefore is not fake) just because -you- despise the idea of people not thinking for themselves. Quite presumptuous.

Being an Atheist doesn't mean you don't have answers. If you talk to an Atheist who has actually done self-reflection they can explain why they believe in what they do.

In my opinion, if people thought more there would more less-popular religions...not just five major ones...There is more variability in Atheism cause followers are not told specific doctrines to follow/believe, so it's not something easy to just fall into...it's suited to the individual.

And, in addition, being an Atheist does not mean one is incapable of having morals and other beliefs deemed "religious". I plan on majoring in Religious Studies...and also consider myself an atheist, it'd be sort of funny if I just carelessly called myself this because I'm trying to be avant garde or trendy lol...anyway, even though I don't believe in a god/gods I still agree with the teachings of other religions.

On a side nooote, I'm not trying to convince anyone to become an Atheist or that it is better than any other relgions/ideologies. I'm all about others believing what they want...just trying to clear up some inaccuracies.
