Is the Iraq War going to be the next Vietnam? You have escalation, Bush keeps putting more and more troops into Iraq. A lot of the same things are reflected from Vietnam, I thought we were taught history is school so we didn't repeat things in the future, Bush must have skipped a lot of history classes.
i think he didnt even go to school, cos most of the bads things he's doing have been done before, and have been catastrofic (dont know if its the right spelling). i know they say life is a vicious cycle, but there are things we can avoid doing over and over again. especialy when we see all the damage it has caused.

buddy, if u actually read what both threads are asking you would know that the questions are different. his is asking if people think soldiers should be left in or pulled out. im asking if people think iraq is going to be the next vietnam
no dude... did you go to history class? you'd know the circumstances that lead up to the war, and what the war is about is completely different. As for leaving the Iraqis helpless just like South Vietnam, yeah that's gonna be the same if/whenever we decide to leave.... assuming order is not restored there.
i did go to history class, so many things are the same, you have bush putting more and more soldiers into iraq, hes trying to dig himself out of his hole but hes only digging himself further and further in and hes gonna continuously do this for another 2 years and when there's a new president he's gonna use "vietnamization" to turn the fighting over to the iraq forces and u know whats gonna happen then, just like vietnam..in a couple years the iraqs will fall back under a dictator
For sure this war on Iraq will not be the same as the Vietnam War. That's because Bush wanted something from Iraq unlike Nixon...who have basicly nothing to gain from Vietnam. Also the two presidents are different..many southern Vietnamese might hate Nixon for abandoned them but on the real, Nixon did what's best for his people. xiatus - Please don't gravedig topics - Marlene
