Wait wait, I'm not understanding this... First of all, an Essay is non-fiction >.> <.< You need to write a piece of fiction that has to do with Wikipedia? What do you mean, like a story about someone using Wikipedia...?
you could talk about a student who used only wikipedia for an assignemnt and he looked up a topic that was vadilized by another user and got the whole assignemnt wrong true story our english teacher told us to go home and research haggus whcih is goat stomach as a meal and someone used wikipedia and they seriously thought it was a bird and other wierd stuff
u can write about how wikipedia isn't a credible source or something and that universities/colleges dont accept info from wikipedia and u have to use private databases (at least my teachers r saying that)
An essay is just a short literary composition, which could be on any topic of choice. There are millions of essays in the the fiction genre. For the topic, what kind of fiction are you looking at? Are you looking at science fiction, or just some fictional story? THe previous suggestions are good if ur just looking for a fictional story. Just write about some kid using wiki as a source, and being that wiki is public, someone vandalized the page and the kid got the assignment wrong. THe moral of the story, only use credible literary sources as citations for your papers. Anything from a website = big no no.
Hmm. Well correct me if I'm wrong but in school isin't considered "Cheating" or some in that area ( ) to use wikipedia for school things. Or was that just my school -_-
its not cheating if you cite your sources, though citing wikipedia wont get you in trouble for cheating, it will earn you a poor grade as wiki is open to anyone for editing, therefore making it very unreliable as a source.
Re: ? http://www.wikipedia.org ...go check it out... sorry for not making it clear... that assignment is to write a 8+ page research paper...1-2 pages fiction, 4+ page research, and 1-2 page analysis... I've finished everything but the fiction and I'm having trouble coming up with an interesting story...all my ideas of writing fiction about wikipedia sound so boring ...
maybe you could write some fiction about how you made up some stuff and posted it on wiki, only for one of your friends to be researching that particular topic, and quoted your fiction from wiki? that'll be the day if it really happens
Maybe you could write about how you contributed to Wiki, after how Wiki has helped you find something you need on that specific topic.
well I turned it in today...bleh...it turned out to be a 1984-ish story... anyways...I suppose this can be locked now...thanks for the ideas
If it has to be fiction, perhaps you could write about the question over whether wikipedia is a reliable source of information. For example, http://www.shortnews.com/start.cfm?id=60757 When data is so easily altered/edited, and when almost anyone can add their own knowledge, does this take us a step further in synthesizing humanity's knowledge or does this make it easier for false/misleading information that deceives?
...next time please read the previous replies before posting...you'll see that I have already turned in the assignment... if a mod would please lock this topic, it would be much appreciated...
