    I used to have a great one of thhese with 3 guys renting an hotel room let me see if i can remember it...
    3 guys want a room the room cost $25

    Guy one pays $10
    Guy 2 pays $10
    Guy 3 pays $10
    total =$30

    guys take there key and go down to the room. Person at main desk ask the bell boy to bring them back there change ($5) on the way down the bell boy takes a $2 tip and gives each guy back $1 (5-2=3 /3guys = $1 each)

    so this now means that every guy has paid $9 each for the room ($10-$1) they got back...

    Guy one pays $9
    Guy 2 pays $9
    Guy 3 pays $9
    Total =$27
    + $2 bell boy took = $29 they paid 30!!!

    Where did the other $1 go!!

    Thats just fail
    Why are you paying the bellboy twice?

    $25 for room
    $2 bellboy
    $3 change

    = 30 dollars.

    They pay $30
    and receive $3 change (this is $25 for the room, and $2 for bellboy)
    Therefore the total cost is $9 each.
    $1 change each = $10 total cost each

    The error in the original question is that the $27 for room + $2 for bellboy = is incorrect, as the room is 25, and the bellboy is 2.

    So they didnt actually pay $30, they payed $27. Like SoC said... $25 for the room, $2 for the bell boy = $27 + their $3 change = $30.

    What SoC meant was, each guy paid $9 which = $27, that $27 includes paying the room and the bell boy, so the extra $2 that Dark added on was not needed. It would actually be $3 missing, which would be the change the received.

    lol
    $30 went out at the start $10each they get $1 back =$9 each

    9*3=27 (noting wrong with math done here.....

    27+2 bell boy took= 29 (nothing wrong with math here.. )

    Break it down this way and explane whats wrong :)

    think ppl got it just a little confused with there wording lol....

    and you would be amazed at the # of ppl who cant figure this out.. might be easier when u can see the words in front of you i guess... but still lol

    When you say +$2 the bell boy took, he took it from them. So it should be -$2.
    That'll be the price of the room, not $29.
