Wow. You guys really didn't cite most of the really really influential stuff that really defined music over the ages.

    1. Imagine-John Lennon
    2. Bohemian Rhapsody-Queen
    3. Hey Jude-The Beatles
    4. Smells Like Teen Spirit-Nirvana
    5. Enter Sandman-Metallica

To be honest, I really don't listen to music like that. I listen to stuff that's coming out nowadays. The songs I said aren't my personal favourites, but they're among the most influential songs of their time. The music we discover in our teens and early 20s are the ones which we listen to for our entire lives. Stuff from the 70s is popular now because the people who are in their 40s and 50s and stuff are pretty much ruling society (from an economic standpoint).

    -_-

All these songs remind me of something specific which is why I like em.

Imogen Heap - Hide & Seek
Head Automatica - Beating Hearts Baby
    Bitter:Sweet - Dirty Laundry
    Dresden Dolls - Girl Anachronism
    Garbage - Cherry Lips
    Goldfrapp - Strict Machine
The Gossip - Standing In The Way Of Control
    Hole - Celebrity Skin

    I needed 8

    I also love

Shiny Toy Guns - Le Disko
    Sugababes - Freak Like Me
    Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars
Peaches - F**k The Pain Away
No Doubt - It's My Life
Nina Simone - (Anything shes a goddess)
    The Killers - Mr Brightside
    Azure Ray - Sleep
    Aqualung - Strange & Beautiful
Amy Winehouse - You Know I'm No Good
    Air - Sexy Boy
Mason Vs. Princess Superstar - Perfection

Though the music I like is not the classic top songs if you listened to them all you would find one to add to your collection.

I can't pick just 5. There are too many good songs to just pick 5.
