This is EXACTLY why teenagers are not meant to be moms =/
I dont see how you could keep SLEEPING while your baby is getting mauled, I mean the baby had to be screaming.
Thats just insane, it literally blows my mind and is hard for me to fathom.
I want to go find the mother and father of this poor baby, and just punch them in their faces.

This happened in New Port Richey, Florida, which is about 20 minutes away from where I live in Spring Hill.

    Yar, its pretty bad.
And believe it or not, this is the second fatal dog attack on a infant/toddler withing a 50 mile radius of my town that has happened in the pas 3 or 4 months.
The first was a toddler, around 2-3 if I remember correctly, was at an aunts house, when he dropped a cookie and when he dropped it, their rottweiler went for the cookie too, ended up killing the toddler.

What I thought was even worse, was the mother didn't even notice it till her friend came over to visit, and when her friend woke her up, THEN she noticed. Srsly? WTF?

I love dogs to death, but I also know that when my nephew is around, my dogs go OUTSIDE!

I have a 170lbs rottweiler and a 1 yr old sister who absoloutley love eachother... Abby jumps on Bows, pulls his ear, grabs his tail... and bowser doesnt as much curl a lip at her. STILL i keep an eye on them. I would never leave the two of them alone for abby to do what she wants to him. All comes down to being a good dog owner... and a good parent... since the first thing that came to my mind was why is your newborn sleeping next to you and NOT in a crib!!!????
    Soo sad.. :(

Exactly Divah, that was my train of thought.

We have a German Sheperd/Lab mix, and hes great with my nephew, tyler can go up to his food bowl while hes eating and grab it, he can jump on him, yell be loud etc, and it doesnt even phase brock. but i would still never leave them alone, because you never know when the dog might be having a bad day, and be a little moody, just like we get sometimes.

In the end though its like you said, it all comes down to being a responsible, and good parent.
I am sure the mother feels horrible, but that still wont bring her baby back.
I know people always say "you should have thought about that before" and alot of times it sound stupid, but this is one of those cases where she really SHOULD have thought about it. Especially since just afew weeks earlier, the same dog had gotten out and attacked the neighbors dog, then bit the neighbor when she tried to break up the two dogs fighting.

    Exactly!! :yup:
And that right there ^^ proves the point even further. I love my dog he is my absoloute everything but if he bites someone or something.. then thats to bad. Its lights out for him. As much as Id kill me, thats what i beleive should be done. Ive had tons and tons of dogs and have never had to deal with any of them biting, thank god. But, if your dog already bit your neighbour and her pet then like hell is that dog getting near my near born child.. [...] :nope:

Wow this is why we always need to keep children under supervision! Someone should have been there with the kid and should have stopped the dog...
