Since you get warned for breaking rules, and I was warned for a rule that does NOT exist I feel it is fair that a rule should be instituted. I didn't know it was possible to be warned for doing something that is not against the rules.

    No cursing.

I love cursing, though. Why would you even get a warning for that ._.

    F*** is my favorite word D: (filtered it just because of the thread o.o;) I don't want it to be against the rules to be able to use it ;.;

Curse words are words, and thats all they are. Nothing more, nothing less. It's your choice if you want to take it offensively, and you're a fool (sorry) if you do x.x; (other than in certain cirumstances)

Are you just mad that you don't have a perfectly clean record anymore? :p

But yeah, a no cursing rule is kinda stupid for one-time infractions. I think warnings for cursing should be issued if its a chronic thing. But cursing doesn't really need to be posted as a rule. There are certain "un-written" rules and cursing is kinda on the border-line between commonly accepted and looked-down upon. I mean, I don't think posting porn is anywhere in the rules, but you see porn getting posted everywhere (I think >_>).

    EDIT:
Erm, they aren't JUST words, they are tabooed words. People DO take offense at them. There are better ways to vent than to curse. I personally very rarely curse.

It's an insult to get warned for something that small by an inactive mod. If they don't want us cursing, improve the filters.

When your hanging out with your friends, just talking, what's wrong with cursing? Like I said, some situations are inappropriate to use curse words in, but I mean, when casually talking, not cursing AT someone, I don't see anything wrong with it.

You may swear with your friends, and I'm not going to say I don't. But a place where it is likely a lot of kids come I don't deem it appropriate.

Yea, but most kids have morals.

When I was 10-12 (4-6 years ago), I played neopets, and I looked down on the cheating community (barely even knew there was one), and refused to ever even do such a thing. Iplayed for about 2 years, then quit for about 4. I came back this year, out of boredome, saying wtf, why not check out this old retarded game I used to play. Somehow, I found this community, and it made things kinda fun again xD

But yea, as a kid, I actually had morals. I wanted to play the game fair. I grew out of that, but I don't know why a little kid would grow out of it so soon o_o

I dont really think it should be any problem unless it is directed at a person... If you refer to something as a F***ing object or a the f***ing TNT... I think its fine, but if your just like, you no what MC, F**K you, your a piece of S**T (only using u cuz this is ur thread) then that should be a problem as that is clearly not appropriate.. Also, we did a poll and I think that 80% of this forum is 13 - 16... At leas the active ppl are... There are almost no less than 10 year olds on the site with more then 10 posts, and I mean, I knew these words when I was 5.. I really think It shouldnt be a problem/

    7-10 1% [ 2 ]
    11-14 24% [ 32 ]
    15-17 36% [ 48 ] x
    18-18+ 37% [ 50 ]

EDIT: I'm also about to be 17.

Anyways, Smelly, there's two people who are "younger", and they probably don't even post.

There probably are more, but they didn't post, but I mean, if multiple people complain about cursing, then maybe there should be something done. I haven't seen a complaint about it yet.

I just took it as an insult for someone who is inactive and doesn't know me to give me a warning for something EVERYONE here does.

Aw, I'm sure smelly didn't mean it in any insulting manner and you shouldn't take it that way. You'll forget about all of this by the end of the week ;)

While I do not get offended by cursing, it does still makes the curser (?) look bad in my eyes. If you can't say it without using foul language, then your vocabulary must be really small.
I'd like to see this rule implemented, as it is also hard to make a message come out in a certain tone. My foul language in a discussion might be meant as a joke, but the reciever might not take it that way.

I agree with Virre on this. Surely a comment/post/thread etc can be made without using swear words? In my opinion swearing is unnecessary to get a point across.

And as Virre pointed out, someone can say something meant in one way and the person reading could take it in a totally different way.

It's not like I go around cursing in every thread I make. I don't curse usually when I am typing a long discussion.

There should probably be a rule that states no cursing, if there's going to be a better filter updated. Because there are lots of ways around it, misspelling the word slightly, or putting periods in between the letters. If I were to say S**T and F**K how many people would still read the words as a whole? I would. And do. I don't get offended, but if everybody reads those words as a whole, regardless of how it's written, is there a point for a filter? Perhaps it's to stop people using too much profanity.

What I'm saying is, if there's going to be an updated filter, there should be a rule against profanity.

hm... To me, this whole thing is up in the air. When I'm on a place like this, i rarely ever curse. I don't have a problem with it and i don't take offense to it unless i'm acually in an arguement with them, and i know they really mean it and they are just joking. Filters are filters, but they won't stop it enough. And i know one thing for sure, how many kids under 12 really know enough to avoid getting iced by TNT using thee programs? I know when i was 11, i tried the good old referal scam, got caught and frozen, but i didn't really know what i was doing then, cause i was too young. Now a days, i could easily pull it off, but kids really don't fully know what they are doing. They only half know. Thus why i don't think many kids are on here. And... The ones on here must not care, cause they're morals aren't high enough to not accept cursing at that young of an age. Bottom line, i don't care if there's a filter, or if its made against the rules, but i kind of have to agree with Cheese that it might of been a little to fast to the warning for cursing once. Now... if ever post i saw a curse word, then i'd be like hold up, but not in one of his posts have i ever even seen a curse word, so he definitley doesn't have a problem with it.
