    Ok so here goes.....

today i learnt something new in school..in Singapore, our ISP (Internet Service Provider) do not provide us with a permanent IP address !!

so far what i have learnt is that our ISP provides us with a random IP address everytime we connect to the internet..meaning the TNT can't really keep track of MY IP 'cause it is always changing !

Question is, is this the case for other countries too? and can anyone with telecommunications/IP address background gimme some comment on this?

Yep, its like that in other countries too.

    Dynamic IPs change.
    Static IPs dont change.

A static IP address is an address that does not change over time unless changed manually. It is used when you need the IP address or network location to remain the same consistently. A good example of this is for a web server.

A Dynamic IP address is an address that keeps on changing. It is mostly used when having a consistent IP address is not necessary. An example of this would be the IP address your ISP (internet service provider) assigns you when you log on to the internet.

Some ISP's give people Dynamic, and some give Static.
Dynamic IPs are really good for neopets cheating lol.

Yea, I wish mine was dynamic, mine is static so to get mine changed i have to call my ISP and go through a bunch of bull crap.

So I just use proxies lol

haha..yeah, it is good for cheating in a way..

but i was thinking about something else, say if user A uses 192.168.1.1 to cheat and then got froze, and the next day my ISP assign me 192.168.1.1 and i play neopets on it, i might jus get iceD for nothing !!

GM, u are from singapore too? hmm..which level of education are u currently at :D..just curious thats all:)

I suppose that could happen in theory. But the likelihood of that happening is like <0.00001% lol

hmm..why is that so? if TNT really ice account by looking at IP addresses and they just chain-freeze a bunch of accounts from that IP and i get assigned that IP, i will never know if it is my mistake that led to freezing or i was just plain unlucky..

lol, alright..the way Concoction asked i thought u are from around here too:)..

Well if that happens, which is extremely unlikely - as Zer0 pointed out - you could still log in to see the reason why you were iced...If that really is what happened, Im sure you could email TNT and have them consider your situation but other than that, the chances of that happening are way too small.

I very much doubt your Ip changes everytime you connect.
    Unless you made -

IP addresses this user has posted from Posts
    119.73.228.2 (Look up IP) 168

168 posts in 1 connection to the internet? o_O

Although, you do have 5 other posters using that IP at times? :O so yeh, be careful xD

    lol..this is shit..

meaning i have like 5 other users from this forum that uses the same IP address as me at times?

that is why i have problems with those Megaupload, Rapidshare etc etc..they usually put something like i just downloaded a file like a few minutes ago but in fact i haven't been using those sites since like the medieval ages..

I'm not sure if this is considered gravedigging, but... I'm just too excited that I had to post (tsktsk xD). I'm from Singapore too, and I didn't know that our IP addresses are dynamic! O_O Thanks so much for the information, gosh, I feel so lucky now.

And yes, I do have the same problem - I can't use Rapidshare and Sendspace properly... they always say that I've downloaded something recently when I definitely have not. Hehheh.

But... from what I heard, SingTel and StarHub are really different in terms of functioning. Apparently SingTel operates on a more 'private' basis? Someone told me that StarHub has a tendency to lag more because you don't have a single line, whereas you do for SingTel. Does this mean that there is a higher chance of you getting caught if you're using SingTel? o_O

    Hehheh, wondering if Singaporeans on here have any idea about this... so sorry to non-Singaporeans if I sound like I'm speaking Greek ^^;;

(And technically this isn't gravedigging - it's exactly 7 days! Not more than that yet :p And anyway, I really need to know this - it concerns my Neo-safety hehheh o.o)

[Edit] singapore - I don't have any problems with Megaupload. They say that you've downloaded other stuff on there as well? Doesn't happen for me D: [/Edit]

StarHub provides Cable internet where the line is shared by many other users in your area. SingNet provides dedicated ADSL where the line is only used by your household and hence is more stable in terms of network speed.

^ Oh yeah, SingNet, not SingTel, ahaha :arf:

So... does that mean that SingNet users do not have dynamic IP's? o.o

Hey also if you have a router at home for your internet, when you reboot it, your IP address changes. My brother and I just turn ours on and off when we need to change our IP because he always gets banned on his ventrilo servers lol
