http://www.alienware.com/ high-end system for gamers... IMO, this is not worth it... too expensive... You can put a system together for half the price of those and you'll get the same performance... The case is nice, but that's all...
No I don't have Alienware, but from what I've heard, it's not worth it. Just follow everybody's advice and don't even consider buying it.
Didn't alienware start out as just software way back when? I remember a long time ago downloading something with that name. Maybe I'm nuts.
I'm currently saving up for one and I'd say it is worth the price IF you don't know how to make one yourself or you don't have the time.
Alienware as in it's current form only has a desktop graphics package much like a windows blinds program. It is possible another company had that name and did something with software but I don't remember ever seeing that and the hardware company is at least 8 years old. Also even when you don't know how to build your own computers; you don't need the difference between Dell and Alienware You can get some really nice custom systems for much cheaper from compaq, dell, hp. That said if cost was never an issue I'd probably get one...or Falcon Northwest.
I own an alienware system and the graphics are amazing. If I didn't own one I would probably say the same as the others (no, to expensive blah blah), but now that I have one any other system would fail miserably in comparison. Yes, they are pricey, but I wouldn't even consider getting any other system, it would just be a disappointment.
Do you realize that alienware have the same hardware as any other computer ??? I mean, the package seems sweet but I can buy the exact same pieces for quite less. There's nothing in the case unique to alienware that can justify that kind of cost... Like someone said previously, if you don't want to deal with the hassle of building a comp by yourself, you can get one of these but I'm sure a good comp shop can get you the same thing cheaper. my 2 cents...
Alienware is just expensive eyecandy, and its nice and fast. You can get your own with the same specs but it doesn't look as cool. If you want to make your system look like alienware, you can get a clear CPU shell, and take yours apart put some LEDs in from some DIY project. Its alot of work, and its not as good, but heck that saves one grand...
100000% right. it starts out somewhat resonable, but then you need to keep upgrading to get good parts and it adds up. plus to get sli you need a 1 kw power supply, wtf is up with that
I really want one. I neither know how to put my own laptop together, nor do I have the desire to spend the time on it. Its steep, but time is money. Spend some money, save my time. And I'll be carrying around a good name in my bag.
