Personally, I dislike most animals, but what I dont understand is why people will go crazy if they hear about a dog being tortured to death, but yet will not care if they hear somebody pulled the legs off a spider and it limped to bleed to death. People will spit in disgust at hunters etc but will go right ahead and squash an ant, or poison a rat. Responses Ive heard are: These animals are higher life forms, more intelligent. Not pests etc etc. Who are we to decide which animals matters? Only cute fluffy creatures? I can compare this mentality to people: Ants are gross and annoying and unintelligent, Its ok to squish them = Annoying ugly people with extremely low IQ should be executed/they have less rights than cute puppies or angelina jolie and brad pitt There should be no difference between somebody decapitating a wild kitty and somebody swatting a spider. Anybody who attempts to counter this argument has just grown up believing kittys have more of a right to live. Lastly, I am not a supporter of killing animals at all, I'm just tired of hearing a person who would squash an ant in a heartbeat whining about some other poor animals death.
The difference truly is that one has become a domestic animal and the other is still wild. We can't make ants like loyal pets as we can dogs/cats, nor can we do it for deers. :/ That's the only reasoning behind it that I can think of so yeah
Well.. there are natural hierarchies in society and in animal kind ... but we are animals. just like a monkey or an ant . But we seem to base our assumtions on whats important on smarts or because the kitty has a personality and exclude the ant because it doesn't. Every animal is the same and share a commonality. the fact that everything on this earth is considered an animal except for plants etc. I am getting sick of people saying its ok to kill one animal because it is less "important" thats just me tho.
I wasnt only referring to domestic animals... I heard some1 talking about a poor shark that was unfairly killed by fisherman... Like somehow its alright to kill the fish for sport cuz thats wat these fisherman were planning to do, but they are stupid assholes if they kill a shark for no reason... I would also like some1 to prove that an ant has no personality.
Honestly, people just want to point their points across no matter what the point means. Like, say that shark was killed and people complained, then a deer was killed and no one noticed. I think it's mainly because people publicize certain things and it's just a bunch of bull when you add it all together. Rambling ------People believe that some animals should be killed to keep the population of that animal from growing too large, and since we are unaware of the true amount of some animals, people get anxious/mad/w/e about them. :| Idk if that made sense at all loll.
yah i dont think u get wat im sayin and i dont get wat ur sayin, lol im just saying im not gonna feel bad if i run over a raccoon that runs across the street the same way i wouldnt care if i squished an ant.
Just because you are attached to your pet dog, and think it's sickening that somebody else would torture a dog, doesn't mean that you have to love every single organism. Well...our body kills bacteria every day. I hardly think it'd be appropriate to feel horrified at that. It also depends on how much you can empathise with an animal. We share a lot of the same physiology as many other animals, so it's easier to imagine how much pain they're in, when compared to say, an ant. And on the topic of invertebrates, they have a simple nervous system, connected to the muscular system. So if you pull off a leg of an ant, the nerves are telling the legs to do something, so it might be a little awkward in its movements. It's 'brain' isn't aware of any pain at all. Just because it possesses and escape response to aversive stimulation doesn't mean it can feel pain. Having said that, I haven't stopped to ask an ant if that's true. So i'm not 100% sure. Pull the leg off a more complex animal such as a horse on the other hand, and you're going to get quite a different reaction. That's why invertebrates aren't subject to the laws of animal cruelty.
well for me its a little different If I hear about people getting shot up or tortured and murdered I really dont care. But If I hear about a poor dog that got stuck in a burning building or someone leaving their dog outside in the cold I'm all in an outrage. Yea I dont care about spiders, ants and nasty things ect because of a matter of opinion. I'll hairspray a spider to death and it doesnt matter to me because I dislike them. I dont have any moral values about and one creature being higher or having more rights than another it's just that I plain dont like them.
mmhhh well its more likely to say rats etc are pests but i always think its cruel to kill an animal by giving it pain. some animals are killed for our needs meaning food so life given, life taken but still doesnt really give us the right. it shouldnt be seen any different to killing an ant or a rat but then again would you want your house infested by those pests?but still they should be killed more human then how they are beeing killed not saying to catch every single rat in the house and get it put down by a vet ok now im just babbling on just to put it across again what im trying to say we dont have the right to kill any living beeing in any way and many of those killings are just sickning ( not saying im vegetarian though )
