odd enough, but... When i go to certain sites, the browser freezes. Weather its ff or safari (i use a mac btw, in case you didn't know *pokes the ones that don't know :D*) certain sites freeze the application. It just started this the other day, which is really wierd.

Example is... I can't view mlb.com in either ff or safari, but i t works on a my sisters computer just fine.

Youtube worked fine in safari yesterday, and didn't work on ff yesterday, but now doesn't work on either ff or safari... These sites just freeze up my computer like shit, and i have no clue why i can't acess certain sites with out it freezing. no matter what i do, i've restarted, i've done all the basic stuff that people would do. Now, i need something else... I empited cache, cleared cookies...

I'm confused on what else i can even do really... Its just so odd, and i've never had anything like this happen to me ever before...

For Firefox, try opening it in Safe-Mode. It could be a problem caused by an add-on. No clue about Safari.

Maybe reinstall flash? I believe that the Adobe installer sets it up for all available browsers, which might explain why it's a problem in both Fx and Safari... assuming the problem is flash, that is.

(I just thought of that because both mlb.com and Youtube are flash-heavy sites. But I'm almost positive that's not it.)

I started getting some weird flash message yesterday (started on neopets)
BTW, the last update I did for flash completely ruined IE7.
Explorer was hanging randomly on flash site and I had to kill the process everytime.
I installed an older version of flash and now the problem's gone.

First, let's try to isolate the problem before you start downloading all kinds of updates or rollbacks. And let's just use one browser to test and isolate, then we can see if the same thing is causing the problem in the other browser.

I suggest you test with FireFox. First off, start by disabling Flash and then go to one of the sites that is consistently locking the browser. If it doesn't lock the browser, try another site that locks the browser often. If it does lock the browser, then disable Java (don't enable anything you disable until you find the problem) and try the sites again. If that doesn't work, then continue going down the list of add-ons until you find the problem, disabling each one and trying the sites that are known to give you problems. Once you find the culprit, you can start enabling each other add-on one at a time, trying the known problem sites after each add-on is enabled to ensure that the add-on isn't also causing problems.

Once you have tracked down the add-on(s) that caused the problem, you can more efficiently find a fix for it. And, try disabling the problem add-on in Safari, it should fix the problem. Otherwise, try the same process with Safari.

BTW, please keep us updated on your findings.

I have experienced hang-ups with the past in firefox. I traced it back to be a memory problem.
Either having too many video's (embedded) running and playing or having too many tabs open, like 15, and having my computer dip into pagefile for memory. As you know, the last one makes computer go alot slower. Al my hangups have thus far been memory problems.

I suggest you try to find out whether is is a memory problem. ALT-CONTR-DEL to bring up screen and view what is happening to your memory usage when you open the screen. Often having memory overload causes processor to go to 100%, thus having frozen computer.
