I came up with an invention. Obviously I won't disclose that information, but I was wondering if anyone else here is an inventor? I'm not sure what the steps are to go about getting the product out there.. I had an invention a few years ago and stupidly got scammed by invent-tech.. so I don't want to go down that path again..
Yeah, patents can be expensive. You need to hire a patent lawyer to write up a patent that is seal-proof, so nobody can go through any loopholes. I think you own the patent for 50 years, which is pretty good. And if it is a really good product, patents can earn you a lot of money. Or you could just keep the invention to yourself, as in, you start a company that produces that product. This is only really effective if the invention is complicated, so other companies can't back-invent it. That's when they take it apart and find out how it works. Coca-cola didn't patent their formula, and other companies can't get their cola to taste the same, though many have tried. If they did patent their formula, their patent would have expired, so now every company would be able to copy it.
ai that is difficult. Here close at my home we have the patent office. I had an idea also one time and searched if i could get a patent on it, but it is hard to get and expensive.
If you are intending to get a patent, visit this website. http://www.uspto.gov/web/patents/howtopat.htm I was also curious, what invention was it that got scammed by invent-tech??
I'm not even sure if I was scammed. I payed money for all the information the gathered and didn't go on from there so I have useless information. It was some sort of shade visor for your car.
think about your product (i will use car visor for example) and then go around to companies who deal with cars, and send off letters asking for financial aid!
That's not a bad idea.. hmm but i'd have to have people sign stuff so they don't steal the idea first
If the idea is really that good, I think a patent would be worth it... the effort and money now would be tough, sure, but it would pay off in the long run if it's a really great product.
Hmmm, I didn't really know patents were that expensive... But I'd have to agree that it may be worth it to get one, if you're really interested in making money off your invention or advertising it. I mean you could pose the invention to all kinds of companies in relation with whatever it was, but who's to say they won't take or slightly modify your idea, and then run with it.
Yeah, I would have to have a strict tight contract. They would need to sign it to agree they will not take or change or modify my idea.
