Okay so we've got bad floods up in QLD which are in the process of being cleaned up.. something like 8 billion in damages? And n ow they are getting hit by two bad tropical cyclones... And while that happening, I'm sitting here sufering with 44 degree celcius days.. which is about 110 F for you americans. MY swimming pool feels more like a spa (without bubbles) rather than a swimming pool. you can't put ya face under the water its too freakin hot. The beach you can barely walk on.. not to mention that our sun is more harsh than the rest of the world (thanks to the hole in the ozone layer), so not only do you get bad sunburnt, but the sand is that hot you get blisters on your damn feet the size of golf balls (yes.. it hurts!). AND, to top it all off, I gotta wear my work uniform still, which is thick wool blend pants, and a shirt.. OH and boots.. Uuuugh. Okay im finished whining now... Time to go play Ps3
Wow. That sounds insane o.o Makes me start to think that maybe this boring weather isn't that bad :/ but that really is horrible. Come stay with me for some days? =D
We've got some flooding going on, but my particular area in melbourne isn't that bad. Today it was a bit like an oven till about 3pm, then we had a cool change. Then again, I'm in an air conditioned office all day.
Ah sounds like Morocco xD I <3 summer. Try putting your head in the fridge, it helpes xD That's what I do every summer when I go to Morocco. 40-50 degrees is usual around there where I go.. xD so yeah.. GOOOD LUCK WITH THE WOOLEN THING AND BOOTS THOUGH ;-; Isn't there something like work health or something?
Damn! You guys are crazy! Anything over 27 degrees celsius is unbearable for me. But shit, 8 billion in damages? Are the floods anually? How can your country manage to keep up with the costs?
No.. not annually.. It's happened in the past, and we do get occasionally flooding in areas... never normally this wide spread / bad. Alot of donations have been made to assist in repairs.. But our government have some money apparently put away to assist, other money they are taking from other areas. And of course, they're making us pay more in taxes to cover it. Haha.. we get winter days over 27 celcius LMAO! Anything above 38 is when it starts getting uncomfortable. Anything below that is meh.. normal Yes there is a work health thing.. We HAVE to wear it. 1. to keep our reputation up, look professional etc. 2. its fire retardent (apparently.. ) 3. Safety 4. the people who run our organization are wankers and get air con offices so to them its fine. For us who are out in the sun working.. well, it sucks. But meh...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Ni%C3%B1a There may be flooding, but down in Victoria it has to last until the next La Nina because rain fall is much less in the normal years (re drought in the last decade-ish). We definitely needed the water in our river systems, they were becoming stagnant. One of my friends working at Parks Victoria was noticing a lot more wild birds nesting around the riversides, so that's a good sign. As for the flooding in general, yes. They're terrible. There have been deaths (not sure if it's reached 30 yet), which are really unfortunate. Sure, financially it's a huge drainer. But if you compare it to Haiti Earthquakes (316k deaths) we've been fortunate in the low death toll comparably. Of course, with the cyclones coming in that count remains to be seen.
But you could like wear something not made of wool? I mean my dad has woollen shirts in the winter and like shirts that are really thin in the summer.. I thought working comfortable was also a health factor?
They don't care what we think.. Apparently there is new work uniform on its way. We'll see what that is made of/looks like
