Ok so I'm having troble with this, guess I should pay more attention in class :/ Here's the question: The electrical current in a circuit varies with time according to c=3s^3-s^2+5s /s^3+10 Current is in aperes, and time in seconds. Find the average rate of change from 0.75 seconds to 1.5s, and find the instentanious rate of change at 1.5s. Identify any vertical asymptotes. We're not allowed to use the derivaives.
Average rate of change is just the secant slope if I'm not mistaken. So f(a) - f(b) / a - b where a = 1.5 and b = 0.75 Vertical Asymptotes occurs when x DNE (I think, LOL) so when s^3 = -10 there's a veritcal asymptote @ s. To find instantaneous rate of change without derivatives... hmmm i'm not sure i can help you with that sorry xD. Maybe graph it and estimate? SOrry if this didnt help you or was too late xD
Yeah, it was a little to late Thanks anyways though, and there is an equation or a series of equations to find the instentanious rate of change, can't just eyeball it
