I dropped my new laptop on the ground a few weeks ago and ever since that incident, everything on this machine is acting weird. For example, I can only connect to the internet if I leave my laptop uncharged (i.e. running on battery) and it will disconnect as soon as I charge it. Everything is running extra slow, and many more problems. My guess is that I've physcially damaged something... Would formatting fix this problem? Any suggestions? HELP PLEASE!

Formatting physically changes nothing. It may be worth a try but i doubt it.
My guess is you've undone some wires :p Open it up and try repair, or take it to a shop or claim on insurance.

You should back everything you have first.

    What location? ;o
Transfer all your files onto a hard drive, then borrow another laptop for exams?
So that you can leave your laptop at the repair shop.
